Pastor Phil reminds us of the difference between "spine issues" and "rib issues." Spine topics are all topics that are critical to faith and salvation (Jesus is the Way, Truth, Life), but rib topics are the ones about which different Christians have different interpretations of scripture and may disagree with one another. Pastor Jeremy Pearson (McConnell Baptist Church in Hiawassee, GA) brought a good word on who Jethro was in Moses' life. Jethro was Moses' father in law who pointed out that he was trying to handle everyone else's problems on his own, so he then gave Moses pointers for how he could not only share the load, but also raise up other leaders. Pastor Jeremy encourages on the importance of discipleship, being a leader who cares about people and their situations, and getting in the mess with people rather than pointing out their problems and not helping them find a way out.

Sometimes we don’t notice God’s provision in our lives because it looks differently from what we thought would be best. Lord, help us to trust in You the Provider rather than the provision, knowing that You provide with a plan. Help us to be expectant and not stuck in the past, trusting in You, and looking to You and Bible-believing leaders for guidance.

Fear keeps us from operating in faith. Lord help us to remember that even when something seems like a dead end to us, You see where are going to make a way for us. Lord help us to stand firm where You call us to be. And also remind us that the battle isn't about us! It's about you and how our story can help someone else!
