    Andy is a soon to be retired Army LTC and is currently serving as a Mental Performance Coach for the Colorado Rockies Major League Baseball team, a Professor of Practice at Texas A&M University’s Coaching Academy, and a Management Consultant with several companies. His expertise is in the evidence based best practices of Sport and Performance Psychology and applied Behavioral Science Disciplines. Over his 20 year career he’s served in a variety of leadership positions highlighted by multiple combat tours, five years with two Special Forces units and teaching Psychology and leadership at West Point and the Air Force Academy. He has been married to his wife Katie for over 17 years and they have four children. He also contributes to several VSOs that help Veterans and their families successfully reintegrate and transition to the civilian sector and he is a published author. On this episode we discuss:

  • Human Resources Expert Brenda Neckvatal
    my guest today is Brenda Neckvatal. Brenda is a practicing Human Resource professional and business consultant. She has worked for five Fortune 500 corporations, consulted to over 450 c-suite executives, and led the reformation of HR infrastructure within 400 small businesses.
    In 2016 she became a volunteer as an Executive Coach with The Honor Foundation, establishing a solid reputation in the Special Operations community, and developed a deep understanding of the Special Operator mindset. She discovered that many Operators did not possess basic business acumen upon exiting their naval career. In January 2017 she started Phase II, a small 501(c)(3) organization that provides pro bono business consulting and wellness support to the SEAL community.
    Her exposure to the varying physical and neurological needs of these elite combat veterans allows her the opportunity to educate all veterans of their rights under Americans with Disabilities Act (post military career), as well as alternative naturopathic treatments to the Naval Special Warfare community.

    My guest today is Sabrina Runbeck. Sabrina is a surgical advanced practice provider with a background in public health and neuroscience. She is also a peak performance expert. Sabrina noticed that there are people in the healthcare arena who love their work AND are able to always make to their workout class, go to brunch or happy hour with family and friends, while the rest of the professionals are grinding day by day, barely getting enough sleep, and regretting their years of hard work to only to find themselves exhausted and unfulfilled.

  • Retired Air Force PJ and Combat Rescue Officer Lieutenant Colonel Joe Barnard
    My guest today is retired Air Force PJ and Combat Rescue Officer (CRO) Joe Barnard. 
    Joe had a 33 military career with 4 years in the Army then he transitioned to the Air Force and spent half of the rest of his career as an enlisted PJ and the other as a CRO with 9 combat deployments and 3 Humanitarian deployments. Joe retired as a Lt Col in 2016.  During his career, Joe faced multiple traumatic experiences.  In the show he discusses how he dealt with those professionally and personally.
    He’s been married for 28 and he and his wife Meghan have 2 boys 24 and 22. Meghan is a former broadway style dancer and has been a Yoga instructor for the last decade. They traveled to South East Asia for 5 months after he retired and they settled in Jacksonville Fla. Joe was COO of a $32M, 120 person wireless construction company in Atlanta 2018-19 but decided to leave because it lacked fulfillment. He has applied to Jacksonville University for acceptance into MS program (Summer 2020) for Mental Health Counseling.

  • Retired Navy SEAL - Mike Day - shot 27 times and lived to tell about it!
    My guest today is fellow Navy SEAL Mike Day. Mike is a Navy Cross recipient and was in a fire fight in 2007 where he was shot 27 times... 16 rounds found his legs, arms, and abdomen. The last 11 lodged into his body armor. Day remained in the fight, neutralizing all four enemy combatants, securing two prisoners and rescued six women and children before walking himself to the medevac helicopter located close by. While that’s an incredible story and we will definitely discuss that today, there’s a lot more to Mike than this...     Sam holds a B.S in sports and exercise science, and a M.S. in Kinesiology. As a C-IAYT (Certified Yoga Therapist) and certified personal trainer, she has taught over 7,000 hours of yoga around the globe. She served as the first Chief Yoga Therapist for the DoD at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center treating U.S. and NATO Special Forces suffering from Polytruama, TBIs and PTSD. She developed, managed, and researched the first yoga program addressing Kinesiophobia to reduce chronic pain, opioid medications, improve soldier function, readiness, and return to active duty status. In addition to working with Special Forces and active duty military, she has also worked with professional athletes from football players to elite ballet dancers. I didn’t throw that in there!! she speaks, trains and develops yoga based movement programs to address Kinesiophobia. She currently resides in Washington, D.C. still working for the U.S. government.
