Episode 8 is an interesting, revealing and exciting discussion with one of rock's best drummers.
In Episode 7 we interview Ryan Blazevich. Ryan is a very recently retired Navy Commander. During this interview he was just 10 days past his retirement with the US Navy. Ryan is excited to be done with his service, he landed a sweet contractor job in Pearl Harbor, and he slid into Hawaii just in time for the COVID-19 quarantine. However, he hasn't applied for any of the VA benefits that he is entitled. This will be a several part series where we keep bringing Ryan back over months (or years) as he works his way through the VA process for the first time. The VA is a big bureaucratic organization that moves slowly and doesn't alway provide clear instructions. Through Ryan's journey we will get to see this epic saga through the VA system, health care, disability claims, VA education benefits... the works. Enjoy this week's podcast!!!
In Episode 6 we interview Chris and Tanisha Souza. Chris is an Air Force vet who left the military after his first hitch and went on to become an Entrepreneur. Chris is a classic example of a veteran who decided to not take advantage of any of the benefits that the military offers when you get out, nothing from the VA, and despite the fact that he paid into the Montgomery GI bill, he never even used those educational benefits. Instead he and Tanisha went on to become successful entrepreneurs and they run a wealth strategy company called Tardus Wealth Strategies. One of the cornerstones to success for veterans getting out of the military or really anyone living in society is to have enough financial success that you can pay your bills and provide for your family, and this is an example of how you can do just that.

In Episode 5 we interview Lauren Weiner and Donna Huneycutt, two brilliant women who both served in the most difficult role in the military… the military spouse. While stationed overseas in Naples, Italy with few job prospects they started their own contracting firm, Wittenberg Weiner Consulting, now WWC. In 15 years they grew WWC to 230+ employees and have won $375M+ in government contracts. They are now the CEO and COO of this multi-million dollar company that they started from scratch. They will talk to us about their service as military spouses, hiring military spouses and military veterans, and how they grew a major defense contracting company in the midst of dumpster fires outside the gates of the U.S. Navy's military bases in Naples, Italy. It is a fun interview. Enjoy
In Episode 4 we interview Kevin Umstaedter. He is a retired Air Force aviator who flew in B-52's as a navigator and F/B-111 fighter bombers. He also works as a government employee overseas in Naples, Italy. He is going to give us some insight on the pandemic in Italy and how it has affected US service members and veterans serving overseas. We discuss in the Podcast how Kevin has never applied for his VA benefits despite the fact that he left active duty over 30 years ago. We will talk a little bit about how the "first step" in the VA process is sometimes the hardest. We hope you enjoy the episode. Follow us on Twitter @veterans_o
