MARCH 13, 1997

Early evening, a series of lights were spotted over the southwestern U.S. states of Arizona and Nevada covering 300 miles, from the Nevada border, through Phoenix, to the edge of Tucson.

The official response was flares but some claimed it was UFOs.

This event became known as The Phoenix Lights.
