Now that DAWGUST is finally done, we're back to our usual faire of sci-fi/action shlock. When a rogue space cop travels to Earth in search of the Anti-Life Equation, the fate of the universe rests on Abraxas putting a stop to his plans. Jesse "The Body" Ventura and reigning DAWGUST champion Jim Belushi's ex-wife star in this low-budget Terminator clone from Canada.
The moment you've all been waiting for has arrived -- This week, our DAWGUST tournament comes to a close as we finally rank the best and the worst aspects of all the films we've reviewed thus far. Is K-9 going to shoot down the competition? Will My Magic Dog make the other dog movies disappear? Or will this be a slam dunk for Air Bud?
We have entered the 3rd round of DAWGUST - a tournament where we set out to crown the Top Dog of our VHS collection. This week, we evaluate the MAGIC DOG subgenre by reviewing My Magic Dog (1997) and Daniel and the Superdogs (2004). Which dog will have the power to face off in the final round?
The month of DAWGUST continues! This week, we look at the SPORTS DOG subgenre by reviewing such films as: Air Bud (1997), Air Bud: Golden Receiver (1998), Air Bud: World Pup (2000), Air Bud: Seventh Inning Fetch (2002), Air Bud: Spikes Back (2003), Soccer Dog: The Movie (1999), and Soccer Dog: European Cup (2004). After a month break, we are BACK! This time we are looking at not 1, not 2, not even 3, but 4 movies to kickoff the month of DAWGUST. We will be examining the "Dog Movie" VHS subgenre and the sub-subgenres within it, determining the best of canine cinema through a month-long tournament.
For part 1, we're discussing the COP DOG subgenre by ranking the following films: Turner & Hooch (1989), K-9 (1989), K-9: PI (2002), and Top Dog (1995).
Can't wait for Top Gun: Maverick since it got delayed to November? Don't fret, there's 4 Iron Eagle movies you can watch instead! Is the US Military portrayed as an elite fighting force, or a laughing stock that a group of High Schoolers can steal military intel and fighter jets?
...Yes. The answer is yes.
It's part Invasion of the Body Snatchers, part Terminator. Heavy Metal. Ferarris. Guns, guns, guns. Kyle MacLachlan stars in New Line's first foray into sci-fi horror in the little talked about gem that is - The Hidden.
To kick off Pride Month, we’re celebrating our favorite LGBTQ+ direct-to-video filmmaker David DeCoteau and the second film in his softcore horror franchise “The Brotherhood”. Three college outcasts must break the Ten Commandments to obtain power from the new Warlock on campus, but the only real power they have may just be perfect abs.
Somebody watched this VHS tape for 20 minutes then threw it in a dumpster. A dumpster diver found this tape then sent it to us. Is this Film Festival winning romantic drama starring a Golden Globe winning actress (Calista Flockhart) and written by a respected screenwriting professor (Paul Peditto) ‘Bold and Brash’, or does it just belong in the trash?
What do you get when you put The Terminator, Over the Top and Mad Max into a blender? You get the one-two punch unintentional comedy-action that is Hands of Steel. This isn't a "So bad, it's good movie", this is pure 80's action schlock...with some questionable decisions made. Guns, explosions, car chases and helicopter shootouts a plenty. Shake a leg and listen to us breakdown Hands of Steel.
