Meet Our Special Guest: Hope McGill grew up in New York City's famed neighborhood of Harlem. She began writing at the age of sixteen, but her love of literature began as a child. Reading has always been a means of escape for her. Curling up with a good book helped her to explore the world and meet fascinating people. As she grew older, her appetite for reading grew immensely and the books became more diverse. She began to read books such as, J. California Cooper’s, Life Is Short But Wide, Treasure E Blue’s, Harlem Girl Lost, Octavia Butler’s Bloodchild, as well as the classic, Manchild In The Promised Land by Claude Brown. The excitement and joy of reading these various authors inspired her to begin writing. Her stories feature real people with real lives, real problems, and extraordinary passion. She wants her work to offer comfort in times when things don’t appear as if they are working out. Her passion for people, music, art, and life, fuel her writing. In the future, she would like to share her personal experiences with young women, by mentoring them or working with community-based programs.

Simply put –this riveting film depicts life of the African man, woman and child prior to their horrific enslavement and one man’s determination to be free if only in heart. The film also depicts the renaming of James Island (holding quarters for slaves) to Kuntah Kinteh Island which honors the legacy of Kuntah Kinteh. Filmed in The Gambia, West Africa, Kunta Kinteh Island features Ben Vereen and The Kinteh Family.

Ross is well known and widely respected in the television and music industries. For the last twenty years he has composed music for a number of Tyler Perry’s stage plays, television series and films such as "Diary Of A Mad Black Woman”, “Madea’s Family Reuntion”, “House of Payne” and “The Haves and The Have Nots,” and many many others. He is currently the weekly composer for Tyler Perry’s “Too Close To Home” (TLC) and just completed “Boo! A Madea Halloween” set to be released in theatres this October. His credits also include serving as Creator and Executive Producer of the television award winning "Gospel Dream Talent Search" as seen on BET and GMC.

Meet Tamika Newhouse: From teen mom to CEO by the age of twenty, Tamika Newhouse, the author of 13 novels, has landed on numerous best sellers’ lists and is the winner of 8 African American Literary Awards. Only nine months after debuting her first novel in 2009, she landed a major publishing contract without an agent and went on to become the CEO of Delphine Publications. To date she has published nearly 150 titles, launched the careers of hundreds of writers, and produces the only entertainment award show for African American writers, called the AAMBC Literary Awards.

In 2010, she was inducted into Who’s Who in Black San Antonio. In 2011, her company Delphine Publications won an African American Literary Award for Best Anthology, and for the second time, Tamika won Self Published Author of the Year.  The National Women in Business Association also nominated her for the 2011 Entrepreneurial Spirit Award. In 2013, she was honored with the Author of Distinction E. Lynn Harris Award.

She has quickly become the Shonda Rhimes in Black Publishing, due to her creative skills in discovering talent, her unique events that features celebrities from across the nation, and being the creator of AAMBC, one of the most influential brands in the publishing industry. Tamika presently tours the country speaking about overcoming her teen pregnancy to fulfill her dream, as well as teaching aspiring writers the publishing ropes. She resides in Atlanta with her children.

Meet Our Guest Dr. Lorneka Joseph : A native of The Bahamas, Dr. Lorneka Joseph, is affectionate, bold, funny, friendly and passionate. She is a licensed-pharmacist, health coach, international speaker and author who currently resides in Florida.

As a little girl, her mother was diagnosed with renal failure. But years later, her mother began to have complications that warranted advanced medical care. Dr. Joseph traveled with her mother to Cuba only to find out that she was in the last stage of Multiple Sclerosis. Her mother died on mother’s day of 2003. Dr. Lorneka strongly believes that God used this pain to birth her purpose into becoming a pharmacist.

She began her tertiary education at The College of The Bahamas. After her mother’s death, she relocated to Florida where she obtained an Associate of Arts degree in Chemistry at Miami-Dade College. Dr. Lorneka completed her education at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee where she received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

She is a certified HIV/AIDS 500/501 counselor and tester, and also a member of the Florida Pharmacy Association and Phi Lambda Leadership Society. She speaks to communities around the world about healthcare, relationships and faith so that they may become whole.

Dr. Lorneka was inducted in the 2016 Miami Dade College Hall of Fame and it was truly an honor to receive such a prestigious award. Dr. Lorneka is employed by Walgreens. She also released her first book this Spring- Right Things, Wrong Season for women. In her spare time, she enjoys teaching at her church, singing, writing and spending time with loved ones. She lives by the scripture Matthew 6:33: Seek ye first the kingdom of God and everything else will be added unto you.
