Topic: Bethel! The Visitation Of God. Sleeping Place Of Jacob Became The God's Meeting Place.
Gen. 29:15: And, behold, I am with thee;
and I will keep thee in all places thou goest.... I will not leave thee untill I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.
This is the promise one of my close friend scribbled on the last page of my Bible way back in 1986. Now he is in New Zealand. What a great and assuring promise of hope. "... I will not leave thee until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of..."
Yes... truly this is the Lord's promise. It's become part of my life. And this promise is for every child of God who loves and Knows him. This is the promise I shared to the church this Sunday.
Lord knows our heart. Lord knows our condition. Lord knew the heart of Jacob. We see here in Gen. 28: 1 to 28 the encounter of God with fearful and anxious Jacob.
People call Jacob a deceiver. But I understand, he is not. He simply obeyed his mother's advise. It's the instructions given by mother to deceive and give the blessings due to Esau to Jacob. And Jacob obeyed his mother.
Subsequently seeing the danger He was asked by his own father, Isaac to immediately go away from the house to his uncle's Place. We see in 7th verse of Gen 38. Again he obeyed his father and mother.
God probably saw Jacob's heart more closer to God and more loving towards God than Esau. We see in this chapter later, his life of thanksgiving heart. As he lay tired, the Lord Visitated him. He immediately sensing God's presence, built an altar thanking God which He might have observed from his father and grandfather Abraham.
Jacob probably as he was traveling he must have been looking back in fear if Esau was following him. We must understand when we have fear and anxious moments we quickly become tired and exhausted. Jacob too was tired.
And so He lighted up and tarred there all night probably with fear. And took few stones and put them under for his pillows. And behold! He had a dream and saw Angels descending and ascending on a ladder.
And behold the Lord God stood above it and spoke and blessed him reassuring the promise given to his father, Isaac and grandfather, Abraham. And ends up blessing Jacob. Verse 15th we read, "I will not leave thee until I have spoken to thee of.
Jacob was refreshed, re-strengthened and reassured. . And he took the stones and set it up as pillars and called that place Bethel, meaning God's meeting Place or House of God.
Did you have a personal Bethel encounter with God? Or when was it last you had this Bethel experience? If not, this is the time to surender and have a blessed Bethel experience..
Let's be refreshed, restrengthened and reassured. To have a meaningful and happy life, everyone has to have the visitation of God personally and have that Bethel experience. And claim that blessing that God will never leave us until He does what He has spoken to thee of.
Thank Lord for a tired anxious fearful Jacob you have visited and gave a special Bethel experience. And Blessed him so much so that that chosen people are called after Jacob's name, Israel. May you give us the blessings of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to us and to our generation. ....
If you are blessed with devotion you are welcome to share with us.
God bless! ππ»ββοΈπππ
