The psalmist exhorts us to, "Sing praises with understanding" (Psalms 47:7a). Discovering the nature and character of God and His relationship to us fuels our worship and affection for Him. 

The number one reason people give for why they either attend church less frequently or not at all is because church is boring or irrelevant.

Life is filled with all sorts of unexpected events, circumstances, challenges that are pregnant with potentially catastrophic outcomes or unfathomable blessings. When we encounter such times as these there is a question that we should honestly, humbly and perpetually ask. In addition, the forthcoming answer is soul-stirring. Let's examine the passage together.

There was a time when the church was very powerful, in the time when early Christians rejoyced at being deemed worthy to suffer for what they believed. In those days the church was not merely a thermometer that recorded the ideas and principles of popular opinion, it was a thermostat that transformed the mores of society.

Throughout human history men have contemplated whether there truely is a purpose or ultimate meaning to our existence. Great philosophical thinkers of the past are divided on the issue. The question becomes immediately relevant when we are confronted with tragedy. Is there purpose, design or ultimate meaning in our tribulation?

Today, let's annihilate some myths about money & possessions deeply held in our coulture & even in the Church. Warning! This may be painful, but i promise it's necessary. 

Living is Christ, dying is gain (Philippians 1:21). Living and dying are the only options and both are transcendentally wonderful, because liberation from fear of death is an inevitable result of living in the faith of Jesus (see Matthew 10:28, Hebrews 2:15) (Willard, 1991) Friends we must journey from that radical faith to radical discipline.
