After the birth of Jesus, there is very little written about Him in the Bible until he begins his ministry. There is one story around Jesus' 12th birthday that can give us a glimpse into His childhood.

The wise men are an integral part of the Christmas story, but when did they visit Jesus? Most people believe it was at the birth along with the shepherds. Further examination of the scriptures might point to a different order of events.

Luke's Gospel gives us a lot of detail about the days surrounding Jesus' birth. Mary and Joseph's long journey led them to a stable where the king of kings was born. Several miraculous things happened that night as well as God's confirmation to Mary when he was presented in the temple 40 days later.

While the stories of Jesus and John the Baptist ministering to thousands and changing the world are amazing, so too are the stories of how they were brought into this world. Mary and Elizabeth were relatives who each had miraculous childbirths. These stories can teach us something about our own faith and believing for miracles.

One of the main characteristics of Love is giving. John 3:16 tells us that God loved, so he gave. As Christmas approaches this year, and so much "forced giving" happens, let us remember how a Christ-centered loving heart gives.
