James relates the tongue to a rudder on a ship and a bridle in a horse's mouth. Although the tongue is small, it can destroy the entire body.

There are those who let their belief in Christ guide and dictate their actions. Then there are those people who profess to have faith and yet deny Him by their actions. This is the subject James is addressing in the last part of chapter 2.

James begins chapter two addressing the division and partiality in the church. In making his point he once again addresses the law of liberty and the Royal Law of love.

In this passage, the Apostle James describes the actions of believers. He says they do more that just listen. They also act on their beliefs and convictions. Continuing his theme of a maturing believer, James also gives us details on what our faith should look like.

The first chapter of James begins by talking about tests, trials and temptations. The Apostle James explains how we are supposed to face each one cheerfully and view them as an opportunity to grow.

We begin this series on James with look at its author. In this sermon, Pastor Seymour describes the Apostle James role in the early church and specifically his role at the Jerusalem Council in Acts 15. Next week we begin James chapter one.

After God answers Habakkuk's questions and describes the impending judgement on Babylon, his joy is renewed. He is encouraged about what God is doing and that he is ultimately in control of what is happening. Chapter 3 focuses on Habakkuk's song of faith and God's many triumphs on behalf of His chosen people.

In this sermon, Pastor Seymour explores the second chapter in the book of Habakkuk. When God revealed to the prophet that He will use the Babylonians as his vessel of judgement, Habakkuk had more questions. God then pronounces judgement on the Babylonians. A main point of chapter two is that God can use even wicked people to fulfill his purpose, and in the end, all have to answer to God's sovereignty judgement.

In this sermon, Pastor Seymour explores the first chapter in the book of Habakkuk. The prophet is asking God why He doesn't move and act. Then when God answers, he's not exactly thrilled with God's response. Sometimes when we inquire of God, His answer isn't what we were expecting. We have to learn the same lesson that Habakkuk did: The just live by faith.

The book of Habakkuk holds a special place in church history. The Reformation was sparked when a man named Martin Luther read Hab 2:4. Pastor discusses this books importance in church history as well as what is going on at the time of its writing. Also Pastor begins teaching thru the book and teaches the first four verses.
