We finally venture into the first 16-bit game console, the Sega Genesis, and with one of it's most iconic titles: Golden Axe! Often times, great arcade games ported to home consoles were pretty disappointing, as the game quality would be downgraded by so much, but in this case, Golden Axe on the Genesis did not disappoint!

This game is incredibly special to your host, who bought it the first few minutes he knew it existed. We go back to the legendary late 80's and early 90's with one of the better action platformers on the NES, without the name "Mario" in it, Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers! One of the staples of the Disney Afternoon, being brought to the NES was a definite success, and arguably a more entertaining style than it's predecessor in Duck Tales. This game had more levels, and allowed you to play a co-op style, which was relatively new at the time!

It's the VGF 2023 Christmas Special! This year, Bible Adventures on the NES gets the nod, as believe it or not, this game does provide your host many memories, and is perfect for this time of year. The true difficulty of this game is not the enemies or the levels themselves, its the controls! Though the enemies and levels do propose immense frustrations as well. Merry Christmas everybody!

After three straight insanely hard games, I figured it was time to settle down a little bit, and review the very first NES game I ever beat, that game was Breakthru, which was also an arcade game just a year earlier. What makes the game easy is the unlimited continues! Breakthru is also one of the "Original Six" NES games that I ever could call my own, dating back to Christmas 1988!

With that said, Mega Man has it's place in history, not just for being the game that started it all, or being hard as hell, but also the fact that the music, graphics, and yes, the game play is phenomenal for it's time, and more than worth a try, if you dare!

Here it is, the much anticipated Castlevania NES review, and the Halloween special for 2023! This game started it all for Konami, in the massive Castlevania franchise. In a lot of ways, I've always felt that this series should have remained a side scrolling platforming style, because in all honesty, why didn't it? This is Castlevania from my perspective, this VGF podcast refuses to "wing it" and hopefully will deliver a worthwhile listen for gamers of yesteryear, and maybe even of today!
