Pie on a windowsill, this episode is amazing! For this week's Viewing Party we decided it was time for a musical, and dug up a classic from Wesleigh's childhood, Brigadoon. This sci-fi film masquerading as a Broadway period piece inspired discussions on sensory deprivation tanks, flirt dancing, grandmas, and Doctor Who. And in our favorite bit to date, Katie learns that Wesleigh is not immune to the power of forearms.

It's that time of the month — time for another Channing Tatum movie! Join us on a Journey Through Giggles as we watch Step Up, a pretty forgettable film we somehow were able to talk about for a whole hour. In this episode we discuss convenient character deaths, teen dance movies of the 2000s (why were there so many??), Wesleigh attempts to make a telegraph joke, and Katie describes that time she invented the sport of Chili Luge.

For our last superhero film of Marathon May, we take things in a whole different direction and watch Sky High, a teen film that feels like a Disney Channel Original Movie but was actually released in theaters with moderate success. Katie and Wesleigh describe their dream super powers and then discuss pressures put on high schoolers, how much this parallels Harry Potter, orphanages for baby villains, and why Katie still thinks Kurt Russell is in Dirty Dancing.

Katie and Wesleigh braved the theater opening weekend to bring you our commentary on the newest movie in the Marvel franchise. We'll discuss how this film rounds out all of its characters and touches on some heavy subjects, why boogers are greater than or equal to family, Space Kirk (not from the Enterprise, the other one), and learn that Wesleigh *might* be related to the twins from Sister, Sister.

Who watches the watchmen? Wesleigh and our guest do — Katie merely survives the experience. For this week’s Marathon May superhero film, we tackle the incredibly long adaptation of Alan Moore’s renown comic Watchmen by Legendary Director Zack Snyder. Along with Luke, comic creator and connoisseur, we discuss why different genres of comics are important, how this movie is similar to P.S. I Love You, why you should read the book instead, and introduce Katie to Howard the Duck.

We’ve declared May to be Marathon Month, where all the movies we watch will be on the same theme! Because we’re stoked for #GotGVol2 opening we’re watching superhero movies of all kinds. Kicking it off is the father of the modern superhero movie franchise, Superman starring Christopher Reeve. In this episode we’ll discuss how frustrating it is that science makes no sense in this movie universe, why Lois Lane is better than we remembered, and that time Katie and Wesleigh went to the Potato Salad Festival.

This week’s episode is out longest yet, and for good reason — it’s our first Channing Tatum movie! We watched the 2006 teen hit She’s the Man, the first film where Channing gets a leading role, and starring Amanda Bynes, who was much more famous than him at the time. Our discussion starts light but takes an unexpectedly serious turn into gender politics, sexual attraction, and story archetypes. Also, Katie sings us 10 different jingles!

This week Viewing Party welcomes our first guest: our friend Pam! She chose Eternal Sunshine for her guest pick, and we had a great time discussing love and loss, the weirdness of relationships, MPDGs, and at what point in the film she started crying upon her first viewing. We also read a movie review that makes Pam want to track down the author and fight them. You don't want to miss it!

For this week's Viewing Party, Katie and Wesleigh went to see Anna Kendrick's new movie, Table 19! Despite having a roster full of wonderfully comedic actors, this film was panned by critics — it's Rotten Tomatoes score is, ironically, 19% — but we found it delightful and decidedly plaid (Don't know what a 'plaid movie' is? You're about to find out!). In this episode we chat about weddings, why so many actresses are asked to cry in movies, and how much we love Stephen Merchant in this film.

After two family-friendly movies, we're changing up genres this week and jumping into the heavily-filtered world of The Fast and the Furious. Grab a cold Snapple or an iced cappuccino and join Katie and Wesleigh as we discuss street racing, the terrible fashion trends of the early 00s, alternate versions of Vin Diesel, pre-9/11 America, and how this film is similar to The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde (you know you want to hear that connection!).
