London, United Kingdom. The original building of Birdewell, London’s first house of correction, was largely destroyed in the great fire of London. However, original architecture can be found at the entrance to an otherwise unassuming Unilever building on new bridge street.

Ealing Broadway, United Kingdom. Constructed using convict labour, HMP Wormwood Scrubs was opened in 1891 and is still operational today. This viewpoint will explore the building of Woodworm and how it obtained its rather unusual name.

London, United Kingdom. HMP Holloway has a rich feminist history and connection to the suffragettes. This viewpoint will touch on the feminist history of the prison and the current use and future of the site.

London, United Kingdom. Although never officially a prison, the Tower of London has held hundreds of London’s most dangerous prisoners. Like the story of the Tower itself, its role as prison is a varied one.

London, United Kingdom. Newington Gardens offers a pleasant afternoon stroll in Southwark, however, the park has a long history. Between the years 1791 and 1799, Horsemonger lane goal – one of Southwark’s biggest prisons - operated on this site.

London, United Kingdom. The Tate Gallery in London stands in the same spot where Millbank prison once was. It is rumoured the red bricks were taken from the old prison and repurposed in the building of the Tate Gallery.
