  • OTMP2019_Week31 (Snippet)
    Week 31:
    The focus was on letting ideas flow and see where it leads.
    I started the project with the bass line then built melodies and drums around it.
    I’ve left a couple of days between sessions and then worked on pads, arrangement and other sound effects.
    By doing so and leaving space between sessions, I realised that the first idea I had at the beginning had changed and I now had two ideas merged together.
    Which make the end result a bit confusing in terms of coherence.
    So next time, I’ll make sure that:
    - I have an idea before I start;
    - and stick to that idea from the beginning till the end of the project.
    In the meantime, I hope you’ll like it.

    Week 25:
    For this week I focused on adding layers and elements. And I also wanted to experiment with the new Roland suite of VST and I choose to dedicate this track to use mainly the classic SH-101.
    Lots of automation are happening with the arpeggiator on the SH101: VCF frequency, VCF Resonance, Decay as well as Having different midi patterns for the same instrument going on throughout the track. I’ve got about 4 variations (intro, intro B, build up and the full version). That allows me to have more control on tweaking things (as long as I name the clips properly). As you might hear, the CPU usage is pretty high as well, I believe it to be because of the Roland VST which see to be pretty demanding compared to the Ableton stock instruments. Sorry about that!
    Hope you’ll like it.

    Week 24:
    The focus was to keep focusing on adding layers.
    Even if not all the sounds/elements gel together in a harmonic way, I’m getting closer to the goal. There is definitely more life into this track than most I’ve done I find. (I might be a bit too harsh on myself regarding my previous work haha🙈 but you get the point!) :) I think it’s good for me to work on those layers as it pushes me to train my ears and think of the frequency spectrum. Thanks to @luboku for talking about his process and bringing light into a process I was unfamiliar with until now.
    Hope you’ll like it.

  • BurnCity: Session5 - Vivien
    Hi everyone,
    I'm going to play online for the 'Burn City' crew here in Melbourne. I'll play a mix of groovy and progressive house & techno and will include some of my unreleased productions. Make sure you check the times at the bottom of the description.
    ..::: What's the concept about? :::..
    Melbourne, AKA 'Burn City', is internationally known as a hub for creativity, music & DJ Culture. With the lockdown in place, we want to play a game of 'DJ Tag'... It’s a bit of an experiment, where every few days, a Melbourne DJ streams or drops a new mix & tags another DJ, and so on.
    The idea is to showcase the amazing Melbourne DJ scene, listen to some banging tunes, and have a little bit of fun.
    It’s likely going to be a while until clubs and festivals re-open, so let's bring the party to the people, and showcase the amazing Melbourne DJ community and scene.
    ..::: Burn City DJs :::...
    Daybreak Disco // May 9 (Tagged Miss Farina)
    Miss Farina // May 10 (Tagged Simonetti)
    Simonetti // May 22 (Tagged Luke Mcd)
    Luke Mcd // May 16 (Tagged Gav Whitehouse)
    V i v i e n // May 23 (Tag TBA)
    ..::: The Game & DJs Tag Rules :::..
    - Nominated DJs must stream a set or drop a brand new mix and post a link to this page.
    - Once the set is done, the game continues by tagging another DJ or crew
    - The DJ or crew has 1 week to deliver a set.
    - If a set can't be done, we'll nominate a new 'Burn City' DJ
    - Any platform can be used but we'll curate the sets on this page
    - DJs must live in, or come from Melbourne
    - All genres are welcome
    -Share your mix on this page and tag Burn City Sessions #burncitysessions
