  • Vikings Postgame Report: The Vikings Earn Their First Victory Of The Season vs Carolina, Smith & Defense Have A Big Impact | CAR | Week 4
Welcome to Week 4 of the Vikings Postgame Report. The Vikings are heading home from Charlotte with a 21-13 victory over the Panthers. The Vikings Defense and rushing attack stepped up and powered the team to their first win on the season. The team settled down after an opening drive pick-six by Sam Frankling Jr., but the team settled down and were able to keep the game within 6 points going into halftime. The Vikings Defense was able to get after rookie quarterback, Bryce Young, sacking him five times, including three by Harrison Smith. Smith was a huge catalyst, finished with 14 combined tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble that D.J. Wonnum returned for a 51-yard scoop-and-score. Wonnum and Marcus Davenport accounted for the other two sacks on the afternoon. Cam Akers and Alexander Mattison racked up 135 yards on the ground, while Justin Jefferson caught both of Cousins' touchdown passes.  The Vikings will come home to host the Kansas City Chiefs next Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium.  Paul Allen and Pete Bercich recap the differences they saw in this week's victory, the effectiveness of the running game, Harrison Smith's impact on the entire defense, and look ahead to the challenges presented by the Kansas City Chiefs.  Plus, Head Coach Kevin O'Connell and Quarterback Kirk Cousins both spoke to the media at the postgame press conference. All of this and more is in the 2023 Week 4 edition of the Vikings Postgame Report.

  • Vikings Postgame Report: The Vikings Drop Their Week 3 Tilt Against The Chargers 28-24, Search For Answers | LAC | Week 3
Welcome to Week 3 of the Vikings Postgame Report. The Vikings drop their second home game and move to 0-3, this time against the Chargers at U.S. Bank Stadium. The inability to convert in critical situations and costly turnovers seemed to prove too difficult to overcome. The Vikings Offense only converted 1-of-4 attempts inside the Red Zone, including an interception in the endzone with only seconds remaining in the game. Kirk Cousins once again threw for over 300 yards, had 3 TD's, and 1 INT. He was under duress throughout, taking 4 sacks. Jefferson ended his day with 7 receptions, 149 yards, and a touchdown.  Mattison had 20 carries for 93 tough yards on the day. Defensively, the Vikings were attacked threw the air all day. Chargers Receiver Keenan Allen gave the secondary fits, finishing with a personal best 18 receptions for 215 yards. He also threw a 49-yard touchdown, and the Chargers racked up 454 total yards receiving. One positive in the game was the Vikings rush defense only allowed the Chargers 30 yards in the game. Danielle Hunter had the lone sack for the Vikings and Jordan Hicks recovered the only Chargers fumble on the day. The Vikings now shift their attention to the Panthers down in Charlotte on November 1st. Paul Allen, Mark Rosen, and Pete Bercich recap the offensive problems holding onto the ball, Justin Herbert's execution against our Secondary, Keenan Allen's career day, the inability to capitalize on defensive turnovers, and the need for our players to win in one-on-one situations. Plus, Head Coach Kevin O'Connell and Quarterback Kirk Cousins both spoke to the media at the postgame press conference. All of this and more is in the 2023 Week 3 edition of the Vikings Postgame Report.

  • Vikings Postgame Report: The Vikings Drop Their Thursday Night Matchup In Philadelphia 34-28, Shift Their Attention To The Chargers | PHI | Week 2
Welcome back to the Week 2 edition of the Vikings Postgame Report. The Vikings falter in their Thursday Night Football matchup in Philadelphia, 34-28.  Costly turnovers reared their ugly head for a second straight week and the Vikings couldn't overcome the -3 turnover differential once again. After a wild first half, the Eagles found success running the ball and controlling the time of possession at almost a two-to-one margin. D'Andre Swift ran for 175 yards on the ground and the Eagles outpaced the Vikings 259 to 28. The Vikings fought to get back into the game and hit T.J. Hockenson for a second touchdown with 1:10 left in the game, but it proved to be too little, too late. The Vikings 364-yard aerial attack kept them alive, but it was not enough to secure a victory. Cousins finished the game 31-of-44 passing and threw 4 touchdowns. Rookie Jordan Addison joined Percy Harvin and Sammy White as the only 2 receiving rookies to have consecutive touchdowns in their first two games as a Viking.  Justin Jefferson had another record-breaking night with 11 receptions for 159 yards receiving. He joins Lance Alworth as the fastest receivers to cross the 5,000-yard receiving mark, doing so in only 52 games. Defensively, the Vikings put pressure on Jalen Hurts, sacking him four times. OLB Danielle Hunter had a hat trick while Ivan Pace Jr. and Harrison Phillips shared the other. Safety Theo Jackson picked off Hurts in the 2nd Quarter for the lone Vikings interception of the night.  The Vikings now shift their attention to the L.A. Chargers at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sept. 24th. Paul Allen and Pete Bercich recap the missteps that led to the loss, the patterns that are starting to emerge, the shifting Offensive Line, and the adjustments needed during the 'mini-bye week.'  Plus, Head Coach Kevin O'Connell and Kirk Cousins both spoke to the media at the postgame press conference. All of this and more is in the 2023 Week 2 edition of the Vikings Postgame Report.

  • Vikings Postgame Report: The Vikings Drop The Home Opener To Tampa 20-17, Coach O'Connell On The Short Week Ahead | TB | Week 1
Welcome back to the Week 1 edition of the Vikings Postgame Report. The Vikings drop their home opener to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 20-17 at U.S. Bank Stadium. Costly turnovers and penalties seemingly made the difference, as the Vikings Offense was -3 in the take/give stat, with 2 of them occurring inside the Tampa Bay 30-yard line. Cousins went 33-of-44 passing, threw 2 touchdown passes and an interception. One of those touchdown passes was Rookie Jordan Addison's first in the NFL.  Alexander Mattison caught the other and had 44 combined yards in the game.  Justin Jefferson had another great statistical day with 9 receptions for 150 yards receiving. Defensively, OLB Danielle Hunter had the lone sack and Cam Bynum led the team with 10 combined tackles.   Offensively for the Bucs, Baker Mayfield was under pressure throughout the game, but threw 2 touchdowns when it counted most. He finished the game with 173 yards passing and 11 yards rushing. In the end, Tampa's Kicker Chase McLaughlin's 57-yard field goal was enough for the Bucs to leave Minneapolis with the opening day victory. Vikings Vox Paul Allen and Color Analyst Pete Bercich recap the missteps that led to the loss, look ahead to the 'opportunity' that Thursday brings in Phili, and review the Bucs rushing strategy that helped earn them the victory.  Plus, Head Coach Kevin O'Connell and Kirk Cousins both spoke to the media at the postgame press conference. All of this and more is in the 2023 Week 1 edition of the Vikings Postgame Report.
