PJ Smyth, together with other Advance churches and leaders, encourage our movement during this COVID-19 season using the first 14 verses from Paul’s letter to Philippians. An amazing message to remind us that we are not alone and that we are still on Jesus’ mission!

Our Easter Sunday service.

Our Easter Friday service.

As Christ-followers, we are carriers of God’s light. Our mere presence and response to situations and to others should be different. Through the daily help of the Holy Spirit, our motives are now to please the Lord as we pursue God’s will instead of ours. We recognize key moments and seasons for God to be at work through us as in our interactions with one another.

Paul gets a little more specific in Ephesians 5 in terms of what our new life looks like after surrendering to Christ. Lawrence helps us to see that we are children of light, and therefore idolatry and deeds of darkness are not to be characteristic of God’s kids!

Paul reminds his readers of where they’ve come from, and that they are not to return to their former life which is in stark contrast to their new identity as new creations in Christ.

Mike continues to lead us down the road in our series through Ephesians. Although via the medium of live-streaming (as a result of the current COVID-19 situation), Mike reminds us of the privilege to be called Christ's “body”, made up of many parts. When each person plays their part, God uses that to graciously grow us into maturity!

[Audio improves after 3 minutes] Vic encourages our congregation in light of the current COVID-19 situation and changes our society is experiencing as a result. Reminding us that our motive is love, that we can spread hope, and that we are called to go above and beyond the ethical expectations around us.

Hold on tight, because the letter to the Ephesians is going to get pretty practical. Following Jesus is all about walking with Him and for His glory, every single step of the way - no aspect of our lives are off limits. Now that we know who we are and who's we are - let's walk through life in a manner worthy of those incredible truths!

Tom Wolf, from Anchor Point Church Alliston, visited City Gates as a guest speaker on Sunday. Paul’s prayers are packed with goodies, and Tom directed us to three important themes in his prayers, giving us practical handles to respond and pray in the same way!
