Praise and gratitude is a powerful influence on community and it is formational for the individual as well. Psalm 30 teaches that the lament that turns to joy is a mature witness to God’s power in the world. This psalm even shows that the act of gratitude is part of the pleasure available from God’s grace.

Psalm 110 is one of the most quoted parts of the Old Testament in the New Testament and for good reason. The New Testament authors looking back saw something important in understanding Jesus in this psalm. We will consider how these words of David became a battle cry for the Messiah.
