  • December 17, 2023- I Want to Be a Person of Joy
Most people in our culture want to be happier. The pursuit of happiness is so central to American ideals that it is written into the Declaration of Independence. The problem with the pursuit of happiness, though, is that it's an emotion, a feeling. Pursuing an emotion or a feeling has the effect of making us erratic, especially since we have such a difficult time trying to figure out what will make us happy. Faith in Jesus offers us something that's like happiness, but it has the effect of making us more stable. That thing is joy. Today, Derek talks about how to be a person of joy.

  • October 29, 2023 - People of God’s Justice and Mercy
In some spheres of the church there has been a divide between people who are deeply passionate about personal holiness and people who are deeply passionate about Christian social engagement. But this is a divide that scripture doesn’t have. Today Derek begins our “Kingdom Justice” series by talking about how it is the experience of God’s mercy that propels us into Christian social engagement.
