These things are great, edifying, and real, but they are not the norm.

Most of the time, God is only asking something simple of us, and he's asking in a still small voice. Can you hear him?

No one likes being in a season of waiting. When God plants a dream in our heart that excites us we have the tendency to want it sooner rather than later. The longer the wait, the more frustrated we become. But what if the waiting season was about more than just sitting around and waiting? What if it was actually a training ground?

What made David stand out? What was the key to the special relationship he had with the Lord?

 

The Answer: Intimacy.

A couple months ago, God asked me to take a break from everything but my family. You know what my response was? Fear.

 

Fear that I would lose any momentum I had gained. Fear that I would lose the time that I could be working to achieve my goals. Fear that I was making a mistake. Fear that people were annoyed that I said I'd be back in July and didn't pop back up until September.

 

But God is no respecter of fear, time, or seemingly missed opportunities. When He has a will, you better bet there is a way. And the less it makes sense, the more glory He gets.

I've been realizing lately that I barely understand what happened on the cross. I understand the logistics of it, Jesus died then was raised to life, and because of that I'm able to be forgiven of my sins, I get the Holy Spirit, and I get to spend eternity in Heaven. But what I don't understand is the weight of what was done. When I think of the cross, I don't get sick to my stomach with the knowledge that someone did that for me. The weight of it is lost on me... And I'm not ok with that. This episode of vision chasers digs into what I've been learning about the weight and the magnitude of the cross... About my journey to really begin to understand the love behind it. I want to be shocked by what Jesus did, not passive.
