For my latest catch-up with WARREN CUMMINGS, this month I decided to focus on a set of film DVDs that had been lent to me by VISION ON SOUND regular SANDY McGREGOR that featured the films of MICHAEL POWELL and EMERIC PRESSBURGER, and the reason I thought they might be of interest was because of the number of actors who turned up in them in minor or supporting roles who later went on to feature in the kind of television of the fifties, sixties, and seventies, that we often focus our attention upon in this show.
It’s often quite interesting to spot the actors you recognise from roles far later in their careers at a point when they are sometimes almost unrecognisable, all full of youthful vim and vigour.
Anyway, with his own podcast, THE CINEMATIC SAUSAGE being very much focused upon the films of that era, it seemed only natural to pick WARREN out of the co-presenter’s hat to examine this topic further, even if we do end up briefly mentioning two series - BONEKICKERS and STRANGE - that are perhaps rarely mentioned in the same breath as such cinematic classics as those made by POWELL and PRESSBURGER at their peak.
PLEASE NOTE - For Copyright reasons, musical content sometimes has to be removed for the podcast edition. All the spoken word content remains (mostly) as it was in the broadcast version. Hopefully this won't spoil your enjoyment of the show.
