On today’s podcast we’re featuring portfolio manager Mark Schmehl, sharing his appearance at Fidelity’s Vision 2023 event with you, that was held recently in Toronto. For Canadian investors, Mark manages Fidelity Special Situations Fund, Canadian Growth Company, and Global Innovators, and today with host Pat Bolland we’ll hear Mark’s thoughts on the current market environment and how he is positioning his funds for 2023 with both offence and defence. Also, as there are continuing headlines surrounding inflation and tapering, we’ll hear if this changes Mark’s market outlook. Mark believes that despite continued volatility in global markets, visibility has improved compared with six months ago, with more clarity now on central bank actions and the state of the economy. Looking ahead, Mark believes it is important to analyze companies with a long-term perspective, looking beyond 2023 and focusing on what earnings could look like in a more normalized environment. Against this backdrop, Mark is spending a lot of time looking at long-term secular growers that he believes present good risk/reward profiles over the long term. We’ll hear more about which specific opportunities he is excited about. Mark and Pat also take a few questions from the audience.
