With SmartCookie, Enactus Memorial continues to look at food security concerns for Canadians. After extensive product testing with dietitians to ensure nutritional concerns were being met, and with kids taste testing the product, the group launched SmartCookie, an edible chocolate chip cookie dough that can be purchased online in packs of eight or 30.

ArtsNL broke its silence yesterday about the raging controversy over funding for arts organizations in the province. Several non-profit groups complained they were denied funding because of small, administrative errors in their applications.The Folk Arts Society was denied $44-thousand in funding. That group is taking the matter to court, and ArtsNL says it has retained legal representation.

In a written statement to the media Arts NL says making exceptions for certain grant applicants would be unfair to those who did meet all professional guidelines and eligibility criteria.

Chris Snellen of CEPG Consulting and Design Inc of St. John's has signed a Letter of Intent with Future Farm Technologies for a cannabis and hemp breeding program under a previously announced joint venture with Israeli-based Rahan Heristem Limited

Yet another staple fishery has shown a sharp drop in numbers. First its was a 70 per cent decline in capelin abundance. This times its cod. Despite positive signs in recent years that the stock was recovering, northern cod stock numbers dropped over the last year. Spawning stock biomass declined by 30% in 2017 which came as a bit of a surprise to researchers. That's according to DFO's cod stock assessment released late last week.

The Canadian Labour Congress is pushing for a pharmacare plan that covers everyone, no matter their age, income or where they live or work. The congress is travelling the country and holding “a plan for everyone” town hall meetings. Tonight they are in St. John’s.
