Three students who recently represented the province at Canada's premier youth forum are back on home turf, and ready to put their newfound skills to work.

The Forum for Young Canadians was held in Ottawa last week, where students has the opportunity to learn about government, getting a behind-the-scenes look at how decisions are made, and how their leadership can bring positive change to their communities.

A federal report concluded that the federal government will fail to meet its 2020 target. The provinces and territories face similar challenges. Auditor General Julie Mullaley says the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is not on track to meet its 2020 greenhouse gas emissions reduction target of 10 per cent below 1990 levels. Also yesterday’s provincial budget was devoid of concrete plans for a carbon tax. The finance minister did say that the province is still working on its carbon plan to meet federal government targets by January 1st 2019.
