Feast or Famine: Why Money Gets to Decide How You Feel
We tend to think of it as a problem that comes with running a business, but is it really?
Because perhaps your feast used to be payday. Money arrived, you relaxed, you felt safe… and as the month went on and the money disappeared, you waited for the next payday to make everything feel okay again.
Different circumstances but the same relationship with money rearing it's head.
In this first Voice Notes to Your Soul, I want to look at what happens when we give money, clients, our bank balance or our next payday the power to decide how we feel; and why understanding cause and effect can completely change the way we relate to money.
We’ll explore the idea that consciousness is cause and money is effect, what I really mean when I say you are the source, and why trying to “think positively” or force yourself to feel abundant isn’t the answer.
I’ll also share a time in my own life when money arrived in a way I could never have predicted, and why, despite getting exactly what I thought would make me feel safe, I was worrying about money again within minutes.
This isn’t about pretending you don’t need money. And it isn’t about ignoring the reality of bills, mortgages or a quiet business.
It’s about asking a much bigger question:
What have I made responsible for my peace of mind?
Because maybe getting out of feast or famine isn’t about creating a permanent feast.
Maybe it begins when the famine no longer gets to decide who you are.
If this episode speaks to something you’re experiencing, Becoming the Flow takes this work much deeper — exploring self-trust, consciousness, receiving and creating a very different relationship with money.
