With a road trip to Salt Lake City for game 2 of the Rocky Mountain Cup Race, the goal difference was upped to 4. Which means the cup is almost guaranteed to stay on the dark side of the Rockies.
We dissect the double losses to Portland in the Rose City and FSL in FSL City and wonder just what is there left to look forward to?
Answer: Nothing this season. But if it's always darkest before the dawn we have to ask ourselves if this is the darkest it can get? Have we finally hit bottom? Is there anyway to go up from here?
If there is it may just hinge on the next away trip to Los Angeles. If the Rapids have a prayer left it's against the slumping Galaxy.
Last weekend was the beginning of the post Pablo Epoch for the Colorado Rapids. While it didn't start the way we all had hoped it would, there were some noticeable differences in the team on the pitch.
This week we evaluate the interim Head Coach Steve Cooke and answer some of your twitter questions.
Pablo Mastroeni has been fired as head coach of the Rapids. Most of you, as with us, figured this day was coming.
We talk about the timing of the firing, the possible replacements and pontificate as to why the decision was made now. Especially after resigning a three year contract at the end of last season.
We welcome guests Marco Cummings of MLS and Jason Maxwell, Statistician in Chief of Centennial 38.
Math can be a bitch. The Rapids aren't officially mathematically eliminated but they're not riding on high hopes either. We find ourselves in this grey area of knowing the playoffs are out of reach, yet nagged by technical statistics.
It's time to be honest about this season, this team and this coach. The cast discusses starting (the wrong) players, the as-of-now disappointing transfer window. The application of Aigner (both how and when) and looks at the future without Kevin Doyle.
Well that wasn't so bad right? A draw with Toronto at BMO Field is not what anyone in the league expected but it is the result the Rapids got.
However, we think it's a bit early to be calling that game a sea change for the season . It's great to get a road point but let's be honest, it took half of the damn season to accomplish.
The question now is can the Rapids continue to show up to a match on the road? San Jose is up next and games there are always nasty and brutish. We're still hoping for widespread fitness to hit our A-squad but at this point, it may just be too damn late.
The Rapids have a new Gaffer. A Governor actually. Since the Rapids aren't announcing him, we decided we would; and try to figure out what the heck the Governor of a Soccer Club would even do.
This is intertwined with some airing of grievances towards the Rapids and their lack of media savvy. The Summer Transfer Window is half over and the Rapids have been as quiet as a mouse. We speculate a bit on life as a perennial disappointment and wonder what it would take to change our legacy for the future.
Then we wrap up this little International break by looking ahead to the incredibly daunting task of taking on Toronto at BMO Field. Toronto is unbeaten at home while the Rapids are winless on the road...so prognosis negative.

The Summer Transfer Window is open and the Colorado Rapids...have done nothing. But we're just a couple days in and we're all but promised some acquisitions this month.
Pablo himself told the Denver Post to expect two new players to don Burgundy. So we spend an hour or so speculating and analyzing positions that need attention.
In the end it's decided that we will settle for nothing less than Shakira and her husband, who I'm told plays for some small European club.
This episode has too many names for me to remember so tune in and see if you agree with us.
The Fourth of July has come and gone and with it, the majority of the Rapid's homegames.
With just 6 more homegames thru October, there is reason to believe the season is out of the frying pan and into the fire.
The Rapid's abysmal road record (0-7-0) extrapolated over the next few months tells us that we will be lucky to finish the season with points totaling in the mid-thirties. Which, going off last season, will ultimately put us near the bottom of the league when all is said and done.
We discuss the first half of the season and the Rapid's inability to ride out any momentum into a significant stretch. There is a lot to be said of the differences between the Pids vs. Houston and those same Pids vs. Seattle.
Will the break help the team get back on track and back to health? And what kind of surprises await in the upcoming summer transfer window?
In a way, all of us have an 'El Guapo' to face. For some, shyness may be their 'El Guapo'. For others, a lack of education may be their 'El Guapo'. For the Rapids, 'El Guapo' is a road game at any level of competition.
Three losses in 11 days, and two more games this week all culminating in the birthday of our nation. A day the Rapids traditionally do very well at home (even in very bad years).
But this team is riddled with injuries upon injuries and those that remain standing have to be getting exhausted.
This week we do our best to keep the analysis positive as we look at the Texas-sized competition coming to the Dick in the next seven days.
Then we find some much needed respite from the painful world of bottom table soccer and talk so wizarding world of Harry Potter. Austin, King Potter-head, treats us to a quiz in honor of the 20th anniversary of the "Sorcerer's Stone"
Another weekend, another come from behind mind bender.
This team seems to have finally found their groove and he goes by the name of Mo Saeid. We have an interview with Marlon Hairston who, along with Alan Gordon, has much praise for number 90. And the MLS has noticed too that Saeid just may be the man to fill our vacated leadership role.
It's a quick turn on another midweek event at the Dick as the Colorado Rapids host the L.A. Galaxy at home before moving on to their first attack on Tara.
Atlanta United F.C. have had a very good inaugural year and have yet to be shut out at home. The Rapids, with Axel Sjoberg back in form and Tim Howard on guard are in prime shape to be that team to serve up the shutout.
