  • Trick-or-Treat, Not Trick-or-Trip: Don’t Get Duped (Episode 328)

    Trick-or-Treat, Not Trick-or-Trip: Don’t Get Duped (Episode 328)

A mask changes more than a look—it changes how we read people, how fast we react, and how easily a bad actor can blend in. We walk through a practical, no-drama guide to keeping Halloween joyful and safe: setting clear roles for adults, mapping simple routes, and teaching kids the one line that protects their freedom to have fun—“I need to check with my grown-up.” You’ll hear how small choices around costumes, visibility, and group pacing reduce confusion and close the gaps where problems start.

We get candid about candy checks and today’s drug landscape without spiraling into fear. Counterfeit pills can mimic candy and common medications, and tiny amounts of synthetic opioids can do real harm. Our approach is straightforward: trust sealed, branded treats; ditch homemade and baggie items from unknown sources; use a trade-in at home to keep goodwill high; and give older kids clear, respectful rules for parties and after-events. The aim isn’t to police Halloween—it’s to protect it with habits that scale across neighborhoods and ages.

Along the way, we talk accountability, community vigilance, and why speaking up early is an act of care, not conflict. If a costumed adult tries to separate a child, we model calm questions and safe escalation. If something looks off, we document, report, and keep moving. We also share our mission updates, why we’re pushing so hard to reach more families, and how your shares, likes, and follows help this message reach the people who need it most. Join us, pass it on, and help turn a high-risk night into a high-trust one. If this helped, subscribe, leave a review, and share it with one parent who’ll be out on the sidewalk this year.

  • Melatonin Sleepy Patches "Stickers" in Schools: A Solution or a Scandal? Ep. 327

Melatonin Sleepy Patches "Stickers" in Schools: A Solution or a Scandal? Ep. 327

A moon-and-stars sticker shouldn’t be a sedative. We dig into reports of “sleepy stickers” allegedly used on young children during rest time, explore what these patches may contain, and confront the deeper issue at stake: consent, safety, and the fragile trust families place in schools. As parents and advocates, we unpack how something as innocent as a sticker becomes a public health concern when it delivers a bioactive substance intended for adults.

We walk through the Spring, Texas case that sparked parent outrage, highlight what caregivers noticed—changes in sleep, appetite, and behavior—and explain why even over-the-counter melatonin raises red flags in classrooms. Beyond the headlines, we connect the dots to mental health: how predictable, safe routines support emotional regulation, and how covert use of supplements can disrupt a child’s sense of security. We also share the policy angle: why district rules forbid unauthorized substances, how investigations unfold, and what administrators must do to enforce clear standards and rebuild trust.

If you’re a parent, guardian, teacher, or school leader, you’ll come away with concrete steps: questions to ask your child, what to check in backpacks and on clothing, how to document concerns, and who to contact when something feels wrong. We balance vigilance with verification, separating social media claims from documented reports while urging communities to speak up. Quiet should come from care, not chemical shortcuts. If you value child safety, informed consent, and transparent schools, this one matters.

If this helped you, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review so more caregivers and educators can find it. Your voice can protect a child—what’s your take?

  • No Shirt, No City Name, No Thanks: The “Substitute” Bus Debacle (Ep. 326)

No Shirt, No City Name, No Thanks: The “Substitute” Bus Debacle (Ep. 326)

A teenager stands at a quiet bus stop before dawn. An unmarked bus pulls up. The driver, mask on and shirtless, claims to be a substitute and opens the door. She listens to her gut, steps back, and waits for her real bus. That split-second choice is where our conversation begins—and why we won’t let it end with silence.

We walk through the parent’s public PSA, the report to police, and the unsettling gap where a school alert should have been. Then we get specific: what are the red flags kids must know on sight, and how do families practice calm refusal under pressure? From verifying route numbers and district branding to using a family code word, we share simple, repeatable steps that turn instinct into action. We also broaden the lens—why do some spaces get robust security while low-profile moments, like early bus stops or cheer competitions, are left exposed? Safety can’t be a spotlight only turned on for big games; it needs to shine where risks hide in routine.

We talk accountability without theatrics: how transportation offices can confirm and notify within minutes, what information belongs in rapid alerts, and how local law enforcement and community groups can layer support at known pickup points. Documentation matters—timestamps, intersections, and clear descriptions speed real investigations. Most of all, we defend the value of speaking up. The parent who shared this story may have prevented harm, and that courage deserves backup, not backlash. If leaders want trust, they need visible processes, clear thresholds for alerts, and the humility to communicate while facts develop.

If you’re a parent, educator, or local leader, this is a practical guide to protecting kids without stoking panic—equipping them to pause, verify, and say no when something feels off. Listen, share with someone who needs it, and help build a community where vigilance is normal and alerts are timely. Subscribe for more conversations that turn concern into action, and leave a review to tell us the one safety step you’ll teach today.

  • The Rise of Uncancelable Culture (Ep 325)

The Rise of Uncancelable Culture (Ep 325)

Some truths only get said when someone refuses to blink. Today we push through the discomfort—stigma, family pushback, and the calls to “tone it down”—to share what recovery really looks like: eight years sober, steady mental health care, and the courage to protect kids from what culture quietly normalizes. We talk about the right to speak plainly, why good-faith stories matter, and how faith steadies you when critics knock on your door and demand you stop.

We dig into the double standard that lets catchy lyrics about being “drunk in the back of the car” echo at youth events while labeling a parent’s sober testimony as “too dark.” Words shape norms, especially for children, and repetition becomes permission. That’s why we keep advocating for consistent standards and practical safety—like having EMTs and security at large cheer competitions—because preparedness is care, and care saves lives.

Along the way, we revisit the pillars that keep this movement going: accountability, therapy, the 988 Lifeline for crisis support, and a faith-forward resolve to serve rather than please. Despite canceled segments and closed doors, the community keeps growing—reaching nearly 90 countries and hundreds of cities—because honesty resonates. If you’ve ever felt pressured to go quiet about your pain, your progress, or your purpose, consider this your permission to speak. Subscribe, share this episode with someone who needs a spark of courage, and leave a review to help more people find their way to hope.

  • What price is a child’s safety worth? (Episode 324)

What price is a child’s safety worth? (Episode 324)

A sunny, crowded youth competition should feel safe. Instead, I looked around and saw no officers, no EMTs, and no plan—just thousands of families and kids, wide open. That moment collided with fresh grief from a church attack and the painful pattern of urgent talk followed by stalled action. I’m speaking as a father and a community advocate when I say: the gap between what we promise and what we plan is putting people at risk.

Across worship services, cheer and band events, school functions, and local festivals, we rely on hope and slogans—“be vigilant,” “see something, say something”—without giving communities someone to say it to or a plan that moves in seconds. We push budgets toward trophies and banners, while the most basic protections—visible law enforcement, an on-site EMT, clear exits, and a communication tree—fall through the cracks. If ambulance coverage and officer presence are standard at Friday night football, why not apply the same baseline to other youth events drawing similar crowds? The deterrence and response-time benefits are real, and the costs are manageable when shared among hosts, sponsors, and districts.

I break down practical, repeatable steps any organizer can use: set headcount thresholds that trigger security and medical coverage, assign a safety lead, coordinate with local police for layout and timing, keep emergency lanes clear, publish a simple map and mass-text sign-up, and run a short debrief after every event. Faith plays a role here too—purpose and prayer guide us to care consistently, not reactively. We don’t need fortresses; we need calm, visible readiness that protects joy rather than dampening it. If we value our kids and our communities, we can treat safety as hospitality and duty of care, not an optional upgrade.

If this resonates, share it with a coach, a principal, a pastor, or an event organizer. Then subscribe, leave a review with one concrete safety step your community will take this month, and pass the episode to someone who can help put that plan in motion.

  • Finding Your Passion: Lessons from Charlie Kirk's Legacy | Ep. 323

Finding Your Passion: Lessons from Charlie Kirk's Legacy | Ep. 323

Freedom of speech isn't just a constitutional right—it's the cornerstone of meaningful connection in a divided world. Having now surpassed 322 episodes, far exceeding our goal for 2025, I'm reflecting on what makes Voices for VoicesⓇ significant amid today's polarized landscape.

The untimely passing of Charlie Kirk has deeply affected me as a fellow content creator. Charlie exemplified something increasingly precious: the willingness to engage anyone in conversation regardless of political alignment. He traveled the country having discussions with people across the spectrum, demonstrating that meaningful dialogue transcends ideological boundaries. His legacy reminds us that free speech isn't about forcing agreement but creating space for diverse perspectives.

At Voices for VoicesⓇ, we've embraced a similar philosophy. Our platform exists to help people—full stop. We don't filter our assistance based on political affiliation, background, or beliefs. We share our experiences with mental health challenges, personal struggles, and triumphs not to impose our views but to ensure nobody feels alone in their journey. With viewers across nearly 900 cities in 90 countries, we've discovered that authentic connection happens when we focus on shared humanity rather than our differences.

Finding your true passion means pursuing what ignites that special fire within you, even when faced with skepticism or criticism. Life is simply too short to spend it pleasing others at the expense of your purpose. Whether through faith, determination, or both, identifying what you're meant to contribute to this world brings a fulfillment nothing else can match. For me, that purpose is helping others through this platform—creating something that will outlast me and continue touching lives long after I'm gone.

Have you found what truly lights your fire? If this resonates with you, please support our mission with a like, follow, or share. With over 320 episodes available, we're confident you'll find content that speaks directly to your experiences and aspirations. Together, we can create a world where authentic voices are heard and valued.

  • From Idea to White House: How Our Mental Health Mission Grew Wings (Ep. 322)

From Idea to White House: How Our Mental Health Mission Grew Wings (Ep. 322)

Dreams really do come true when you refuse to let naysayers deter you. Standing at the Alpha Omega Comic-Con 2025 booth in Long Beach, California, I felt a surreal mix of gratitude and disbelief as we publicly announced the launch of Voices for VoicesⓇ Publishing. What began as a personal mental health journey has blossomed into a multi-faceted organization now publishing comics and books with mental health themes woven throughout their narratives.

Our first comic book, "The Atalan," along with three other publications, represents a transformative step in our mission to support mental health awareness through storytelling. While you may not always see the words "mental health" explicitly stated in our content, know that these themes run through everything we create. This is deliberate – we aim to reach people who might not actively seek mental health resources but can benefit from stories that validate their experiences and offer hope.

The journey to this moment hasn't been smooth. From logistical hiccups at conventions (like nearly forgetting important display stands) to facing critics who dismissed our vision as unrealistic, we've weathered numerous challenges. Yet these obstacles have only strengthened our resolve. With over 320 podcast episodes featuring guests ranging from Senator Ted Cruz (our 2025 Voice of the Year Award recipient) to Olympic gold medalist Oksana Baiul, we're building a platform that amplifies important voices and reaches those who need support.

Perhaps most humbling is knowing our work has been recognized even by figures connected to the White House. When Karoline Leavitt, Press Secretary for President Trump, acknowledged Voices for VoicesⓇ, it validated that authentic dedication to helping others can open doors previously unimaginable. This recognition fuels our ambitious goal of positively impacting three billion people through mental health advocacy.

I encourage you to pursue your own dreams with the same determination. Don't let anyone convince you that you're not talented enough or that your vision isn't worthwhile. Whether you check out our publications on Amazon or tune into our podcast, remember that your support enables us to continue this important work. Subscribe, share, and join us in creating a positive legacy that extends far beyond ourselves.

  • Breaking the I-5 Pipeline: Oregon's Fight Against Sex Trafficking with Brittany Jones (Ep. 321)

Breaking the I-5 Pipeline: Oregon's Fight Against Sex Trafficking with Brittany Jones (Ep. 321)

What happens when a political candidate is willing to fund solutions from their own pocket? Meet Brittany "BJ" Jones, Oregon Governor gubernatorial candidate for 2026, whose commitment to change goes far beyond campaign promises.

Our compelling conversation with BJ Jones delves into Oregon's darkest challenges - particularly the rampant human trafficking along the I-5 corridor, one of the nation's worst hotspots. Jones articulates a fresh approach focused on protecting victims rather than criminalizing them, while ensuring perpetrators face maximum penalties. "Our kids, our people, our women, our children, our men - we need to be protected," Jones emphasizes, contrasting with the current system where offenders often receive minimal consequences.

The discussion reveals Jones' personal connection to many of the issues facing Oregonians. As a veteran who experienced homelessness with her children, she understands firsthand the gaps in support systems. Her son's mental health journey informed her advocacy for replacing school principals with licensed counselors - a model she witnessed dramatically improve both behavior and academic performance. This practical experience shapes her vision for comprehensive mental health reform across the state.

Perhaps most striking is Jones' extraordinary commitment to funding initiatives personally if legislative approval fails. Having lived on $12,000-20,000 annually for most of her life, she views the governor's salary as an opportunity to directly fund programs she believes in, particularly her homelessness initiative. "I'm not afraid to lose my couch," she states plainly, expressing her willingness to sacrifice personal comfort for meaningful change.

Jones also addresses the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) and pledges to enforce indigenous treaties that have historically been violated by the government. Her day-one plan includes declaring a state of emergency to address homelessness, indigenous rights violations, and the drug epidemic - giving her directive control over state agencies to allocate resources more effectively.

Want to learn more about this candidate who previously ran for president and now focuses her vision on Oregon? Follow BJ's campaign on Facebook at Jones for Governor 2026, on TikTok @BJforOregon, or visit her website through any of her social media platforms.

  • With Oregon's Future at Stake, Meet Brittany Jones (Ep. 320)

With Oregon's Future at Stake, Meet Brittany Jones (Ep. 320)

What drives a human trafficking survivor to run for governor? Brittany "BJ" Jones reveals her remarkable journey from military service to gubernatorial candidate in a compelling conversation that showcases her passionate vision for Oregon's future.

Jones, who describes herself as an Oregon native with Patawomeck indigenous heritage, shares how her political awakening came gradually. "When Trump started running for office, it really opened my eyes," she explains, noting that if someone like him could seek high office, citizens needed to pay closer attention to politics. This realization propelled her from a political newcomer to a determined candidate with a clear mission: protecting children's futures.

At the heart of Jones's platform lies a multifaceted approach to child welfare that encompasses school safety, mental health resources, environmental stewardship, and creating safe spaces for all children to express their identities. She speaks with particular urgency about gun violence in schools and the importance of following indigenous leadership in environmental protection. "Our children deserve to have clean water to play in and drink, and forests to be able to explore," she emphasizes, connecting personal parenting experiences to broader policy goals.

Perhaps most surprising is Jones's revelation that she identifies as an introvert who prefers "to just be in my corner with my books and candles." Her candid discussion about navigating campaign life despite this temperament offers a refreshing glimpse into the human side of political candidacy. Running a grassroots campaign while working as a DoorDash driver to maintain flexibility for campaign activities, Jones embodies an authentic approach to politics that contrasts sharply with more polished, established candidates.

Discover how Jones plans to bring meaningful change to Oregon by following her campaign on social media (Facebook: Jones for Governor 2026, TikTok: BJ for Oregon, Instagram: Jones4Governor2026) or through her website. Her story reminds us that political leadership can emerge from unexpected places when driven by genuine passion for creating a better future.
