Julia Lewkowitz and Daniela Castelo, co-founders of She Speaks! (an online English teaching organization for underprivileged girls), are featured on this episode of Voices in Miami! Listen to them talk about their advocacy in the name of SDGs 4 (Quality Education) and 10 (Reduced Inequality) with their service project. She Speaks! mission is to empower young women by helping them develop fluency in English. They work with middle and high school girls in Brazil through peer-to-peer conversational classes, creating a connection and helping them expand their opportunities for growth.

This 14th episode of Voices in Miami features Lena Kalandjian, who serves on the National Youth Advisory Board of the non-profit violence prevention organization Sandy Hook Promise. Listen to her talk about her advocacy in the same of SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, Strong Institutions, and Inclusive Societies) through her work representing and sustaining over 3,500 Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) Promise Clubs. Lena works with eleven other youth changemakers to help design curricula, call-to-action programs, and youth empowerment resources for students across the United States. Throughout these endeavors, Lena has had opportunities to collaborate with the Biden Harris Presidential Transition Team, TIME Magazine, and the National Center for School Safety at the University of Michigan in order to elevate youth voices and facilitate intergenerational understanding.

Rachel Greidinger, Thespian Honor Society President and Drama Silver Knight Nominee from Miami Palmetto Senior High is so excited to be featured on our 13th episode of Voices in Miami! Listen to her talk about her advocacy in the name of SDG 4 (Quality Education) through her scholarship foundation, SweetArts Candy.  Her and her team are working to spread access to the arts throughout the community, and promote arts education for children and young adults. In this 12th episode of Voices in Miami, we meet Matteo Wakeman! ​​Matteo is one of Breakthrough Miami’s most dedicated volunteers.  He focuses his advocacy on educational opportunities with his service teaching under resourced middle schoolers in the Miami area at Breakthrough. Along with many other student volunteers from Gulliver Preparatory, Matteo focuses on teaching and reinforcing Breakthrough scholars’ academic fundamentals from mathematics to social sciences, as well as electives ranging from Chess to Personal Finance through this students-teaching-students program.

Sasha Boyers and Kate Perez, co-founders of the mental health awareness non-profit organization Naturally Human Miami are featured on this episode of Voices in Miami! Listen to them talk about their advocacy in the name of SDGs 4 (Quality Education) and 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) with their service project! Kate and Sasha are raising awareness and creating conversations about mental health issues affecting teens and young adults today through educational forums, fundraising efforts, and more.

Analysse Humaran, a founder of the Agents of Change, is featured on our tenth episode of Voices in Miami! Listen to her talk about Agents of Change, a student-created and student-lead project that has fostered greener knowledge and habits across South Florida and won tens of thousands in prize earnings so far. Alongside her team at Agents of Change, Analysse strives to further SDG4 and 13, quality education and climate action by bridging the systematic educational gap on climate change, with hopes to spark action in her frontline community.

Join us in welcoming high school seniors, Alexandr Kim and John Aitken, to this ninth episode of Voices in Miami! Alex and John are co-founders of Volunteering Miami—a digital platform that connects volunteers and volunteer recruiters. John architects their website and Alex leads the organization’s operations to bring new opportunities to more students as they tackle SDG 8 and 9. Their team is committed to facilitating volunteering through digital solutions in today’s world of work.

Join us as we welcome Luis Moros, a sophomore at Florida International University currently pursuing two bachelor’s degrees in political science and criminal justice, to our eighth episode of Voices in Miami! Luis is a philanthropist, political activist, and serves as a policy fellow at the United Nations and research intern at the Cato Institute. From being homeless and moving from shelter to shelter, Moros was able to work alongside the Former First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, by registering over 25,000 thousand people to register to vote and collaborated to pass the For the People Act at the United States Senate. Listen in as he shares his story with us! 

Cayetana Jaramillo, the creator, and writer for The Loop News, is featured on this seventh episode of Voices of Miami! Listen to her talk about The Loop News, a social media-based youth newsletter focused on engaging Generation Z in local politics and civic engagement. Cayetana publishes a weekly newsletter offering political news summaries and opportunities for her audience to become actively involved in their community

Aryana is a Miami Palmetto Senior High School student. She is a passionate organ donation advocate and is pursuing a future career in science and looking to gain experience through high school. Aryana’s journey started with learning about her father's Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), a genetic condition that she may have one day, and his need for a kidney transplant. Seeing how greatly this has affected their family's normal ways of life, Aryana has tried to use her knowledge to educate and help others. She volunteers at her local OPO (Life Alliance at University of Miami), started the 1st SODA (Students for Organ Donation Advocacy) chapter in South Florida, and continues to spread awareness through publications, social media, local events, and podcasts.
