She carried her stillborn daughter’s ashes with her almost everywhere she went. She left them behind the night she vanished.
Fawn Marie Mountain was 25 years old when she disappeared from a trailer in Claysburg, Pennsylvania in November 2012. She left behind all of her clothes. She left behind the one thing she never went anywhere without.
Her own family didn’t even know she was missing for almost three years, a direct result of the isolation and coercive control investigators and her family say defined her relationship with her partner, Heather Dibert.

Dibert has never been charged in Fawn’s disappearance. But in 2025 she was convicted in a completely unrelated Bedford County case, a murder-for-hire plot against an estranged wife. The judge called her “one of the most manipulative people I’ve ever seen in a courtroom.”

Fawn’s case remains open. Pennsylvania State Police have identified a person of interest but have not named them publicly.

I contacted the Brown County Sheriff’s Department with questions about Brittany Stykes.

What they told me changed everything.

The blue light story from Episode 8, investigators now say the informant was known for making things up.

Shane Stykes has NOT been ruled out as a suspect. That came directly from the Sheriff.

And for Brittany, she told multiple people, days before she was murdered, she was afraid of Shane. That she had things packed. That she was planning to leave.

She was scared. Days later she was dead.

On August 28, 2013, 22-year-old Brittany Stykes was driving down a country road in Georgetown, Ohio with her 14-month-old daughter Aubree strapped in the seat beside her. She was four months pregnant. She was on her way to celebrate her father’s birthday.

Someone used a fake police light to pull her over.

Brittany was shot three times. Her 14-month-old daughter was shot in the head.

Brittany died at the wheel. Aubree survived.

Nearly 13 years later, over 75 interviews, approximately one million dollars spent on the investigation, a named suspect who was interviewed and never charged, and nobody has been arrested for the murder of Brittany Stykes.

There is a $50,000 reward for information leading to a conviction. It has gone unclaimed for almost 13 years.
