Voices Out of Darkness is comprised of so many different people from many different walks of life.  Today we explore what it’s like, behind the scenes of being literally one of those “Voices” with our special guest, Jazmine, a Lead Communications Dispatcher who shares with us a handful of stories and experiences as a dispatcher.  

The public may not comprehend the stresses involved working as a dispatcher.  They work between 10-12 hour shifts, are regularly understaffed, and they have to sit at their consoles for hours at a time without being able to leave to take a break.  

A 911 dispatcher handles life and death calls where the lives of citizens, police officers, and other personnel are at stake and the stress of that responsibility many times can go unnoticed.

·       In the USA, Crime Scene Investigators exist in local police agencies, county-wide agencies, state-wide departments, on the federal level of government and even in the private sector. Aside from CSI’s who are assigned to process specific types of crime scenes, many agencies have patterns of common crime-types they constantly deal with. This could be  due to many reasons including population size, income, different cultures and prejudices, general demographics and many other reasons. In this episode, Mike and Michelle discuss what crime scenes they most commonly get called to in the city they work for, as well as their most memorable calls of that type.
