If Poets Ruled the World: The Podcast is hosted by Ruth Elora (also known as The Mayfair Poet) and Salma the Poet.

Each month, we explore a different theme and ask one radical question:

What would it look like if poets ruled the world?

Through honest conversation, cultural critique, and original poetry, we reimagine the world through a poetic lens — one that centres reflection, truth, and imagination in the face of societal pressure and expectation.

This month, we turn our attention to beauty and body image — the stories we inherit about how we should look, the standards we are taught to measure ourselves against, and the ways those messages shape our sense of self.

In this episode of If Poets Ruled the World, Ruth Elora and Salma the Poet are joined by @nicthepoet for an open and honest conversation about beauty standards, body image, and the pressure women face to look a certain way. Together, they explore the impact of social media, AI, plastic surgery culture, and the tension between self-expression and self-acceptance.

Interwoven with original poetry, this episode moves between personal reflection and wider cultural critique, asking what it means to see ourselves clearly in a world full of filters, comparison, and expectation.

We also reflect on our journeys towards self-love and self-acceptance, and whether it is ever truly possible to feel at home in our bodies.

This morning @kit1 was joined by Arie David from Oxfam for a special show as part of @refugeeweekuk. Arie works across the Racial Justice and Equalities team and Comms at Oxfam GB and is the Project Lead for Refugee Week.

@paperplanexmusic invites Kyiv-born DJ, producer and hospitality interior designer @yova-yager for a conversation about displacement, rebuilding a life in a foreign city, and how music and the kindness of people in London became a lifeline when nothing could be planned.

Paperplane kicks things off by spotlighting some all-time favourite records he’s been holding back for the right moment. Yova’s guest mix moves through a distinct strain of raw, hypnotic and groove‑driven techno. Their conversation sits in between.

We continue our exploration of LOVE.

After performing one of the biggest shows of my artist journey so far on Friday, I’ve been thinking about what becomes visible when we slow down enough to notice it.

The conversations that arrive at the right moment. The people who cross our paths. The coincidences we can’t quite explain. The feeling that life is quietly trying to tell us something.

Maybe love isn’t something we find.

Maybe it’s something we become present enough to notice.

Tonight’s episode explores that space, alongside some new unreleased material freshly baked from my @fold.ldn Residency and LOVE, my next single arriving 30 June for DATURA 02.
