There’s this idea in DJ culture that to be serious, you’ve got to chase obscurity - that edits are trashy, that real artistry lives in the rare and the unreleased. But there’s something radical about edits: taking what already exists, twisting it, and making it your own all on zero budget.

From working-class kids in Wigan speeding up their parents’ records and accidentally birthing donk, to bedroom producers on cracked Ableton flipping pop tracks for the club - edits have always been about access. About people without big studios or classical training saying, “I can make this slapppp.”

I could go on about this for ages - most of my favourite tracks live in the depths of SoundCloud and bring me way more joy than anything in Beatport’s Top 10.

It’s the sound of the familiar reimagined, where mainstream meets the underground and of culture reclaimed from the polished and the privileged.

So this month's show is for the working-class producers, the SoundCloud artists, the DIY remixers - the people who remind us that art doesn’t have to be “serious” to make you dance, and the whole reason we're in the club is to have a good time.
