This month, @rabbitholedj is back for FUELLED, rehashing some tracks from a set performed at Burning Nest. You can expect bouncy and groovy house and tech-house bangers to get you through the week! You can also catch Rabbit Hole’s usual good vibes and other DJs at @hymnotikbcn in Club Makossa on the 3rd of July from 8pm.

For my first SOMNA guest, I have invite a rising talent in London’s underground scene, Sarah (SBBS).

French-Born and now based in London, with Moroccan and Algerian roots, Sarah’s Journey as a DJ hasn’t been easy. In her culture pursuing a path in music, especially as a woman, is far from the norm. To follow her passion, she’s had to keep her work hidden, but her love for the craft shines through in every track she plays. Coming to London was her way of re-discovering herself and through that she discovered a passion for Techno music and then a few years later for the art of DJing. 

Her style is a fusion of high energy grooves, with heavy basslines blended with dark and hypnotic rhythms with a touch of Breakbeat and Electro. Through her music Sarah creates a space for exploration, vulnerability and self discovery, offering others the sense of love and belonging she found in the queer rave community.

Wan Tu brings an hour-long exploration through Disco, Bubblegum, Afro disco and Disco House. A recreation of the first hour of his recent set at Soho House.

Last week, station dad @itsnatureboi messaged me to ask if I wanted to do a feature on @voices_radio as part of Refugee Week. Of course I was more than happy to put something together.

For the first half hour of this special show I will be diving into the 1947 India/Pakistan partition, and looking at how displacement affected many incredible classical singers, but did not deter their unyielding messages of unity and belonging.

But more importantly….

For this show I’ve asked my very dear friend, and wife to one of my childhood friends, @khalilila to help me curate something as part of this important project.

Isabele brings a guest mix of music and interviews that highlight the cultural resilience of people who have been displaced, with a special emphasis on solidarity with Palestine. We tune into Persian folk music sampled for the club, remixes of Palestinian resistance songs originally used as code, and reinterpretations of musical traditions from Pakistan, Sudan, Eritrea, Tunisia, Armenia, Iran, Colombia, Chile, and the Caribbean.

This show features interview clips with: Huda Asfour, Maral, EMEL, Alsarah, Lido Pimienta, and Gabriel Teodros. Full interviews can be found by searching for these artists and “KEXP.”
