Today marks day 1,942 of my consecutive daily running streak. In this episode, I’m getting honest about a topic we don’t always like to discuss: feeling vulnerable.
Whether it’s navigating "dodgy" urban areas or the isolation of remote trails, personal safety is a real factor when you're on a 16.5-year mission to run a lap of the world. What I realised is that grit isn't enough, you need a system. I break down my "safety stack," from using Strava heatmaps for route verification to the specific apps I use for live tracking and "beacons" so others know exactly where I am.
The lesson for me is simple: if a situation feels wrong, don't risk the streak. We are running for a much bigger purpose, raising £1M to save children's lives, and that requires staying healthy and safe for the long haul .
