10 - Surveillance Capitalism: Commoditizing Humanity (that mean us) in the 21st Century
*******RATE, REVIEW and SHARE********
Surveillance Capitalism is a term coined by Shoshanah Zuboff to describe the emergent markets that trade in people’s private life experiences. In this episode, we explore the information age wet-dreams of capitalist scum who have sacrificed working class privacy at the altar of capital.
This episode also features an interview with Hamid Khan, Campaign Coordinator of the Stop LAPD Spying Coalition. Hamid provides insight into the paradigms of surveillance that capital holders, starting with slave owners, have always leveraged against the young, working class, brown and black bodies. The “Gig” Economy has entrenched a massive class of workers who don’t receive even the basic protections won by unions after the Gilded Age. We look at how the tech industry has “disrupted” labor laws & found new, modern ways to further exploit workers.
We also talk to AM of Yes A Stripper podcast & Soldiers of Pole as well as law student Jordan P of UCLA. Check out Yes A Stripper podcast at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCO8rq640d12usOLkjcbysGQ

Are you Antifa? What is Antifa? Some say this pod is Antifa.
US government, through twitter.com, has recently declared Antifa a terrorist organization. Today we discuss what that means for the Left in the US.
Also International studies expert, Ayalih’s (@all_o_ya on twitter) explains how the US does this internationally with the War on Terror.
Then we lose a bit of our sanity breaking down the FortheLBC article about LBPD’s past connections with the KKK. And take a close look at the recent lynchings of black men in LA County & the LA Sheriff's quite sus response.

Entering a second full month of stay-at-home orders aimed at stopping the spread of the novel coronavirus, renters and landlords across California are increasingly worried about paying their bills. These are their stories…
Some tenants, in Long Beach and around the country, have gone on a RENT STRIKE refusing to pay it and adding a political statement to their economic hardship. The now monthly protest, which one group of activists says has attracted more than 12,000 California tenants, is to push government officials at all levels to cancel rent and mortgage payments, ensuring renters can stay in their homes now and when the pandemic ends.

The protest decrying the death of Floyd, a black man who died after a white Minneapolis police officer pressed a knee into his neck last week, was initially peaceful in the city. Hundreds of participants, many chanting and holding signs reading, “No justice, no peace” and “Black lives matter,” walked from the city’s downtown area through Alamitos Beach, along Broadway, before circling back to downtown along Ocean Boulevard on Sunday afternoon.

Now "Essential Worker" has entered our collective conciousness and the list includes grocery stores, laundromats, restaurants (serving takeout and delivery), factories that produce foodstuffs and other products, gas stations, pharmacies, and hospitals.
What do all of these businesses have in common? They rely on the labor of low-wage workers who, in many cases, toil without benefits, unions, and workplace protections. Public workers are still on the clock, too, cleaning our streets, delivering our mail, and making sure we have access to utilities and other social services.
We'll be discussing this and more.

On May 1, 1886, more than 300,000 workers in 13,000 businesses across the United States walked off their jobs in the first May Day celebration in history. In Chicago, the epicenter for the 8-hour day agitators, 40,000 went out on strike with the anarchists in the forefront of the public's eye. What happens next? Listen up to find out!
