The controversial issue of slot machines is the main obstacle preventing sports wagering legislation from passing at the Missouri Capitol. A judge in Platte County has declared the machines illegal, and the issue could end up at the Missouri Supreme Court in the future. Supporters of sports wagering say it would bring an additional $10-million a year in tax revenue to Missouri. There are others who oppose the expansion of gambling. Vicky Hartzler (R-Harrisonville) is blasting the Biden administration and the Interior Department over the department's apparent decision to stop providing police escorts for American veterans who travel to Washington as part of the Honor Flight Network. Congresswoman Hartzler, who serves on the House Armed Services Committee, describes the Honor Flights as one of the most inspiring programs in the nation. She is joining U.S. Sens. Roy Blunt and Josh Hawley (both R-Missouri) in demanding answers from the Interior Department, and she says Interior Secretary Deb Haaland should be called to testify before Congress. 939 the Eagle has contacted the Interior Department seeking comment on the changes, and they have not responded yet:

U.S. Rep. Billy Long (R-Springfield) is emphasizing the issue of illegal immigration as he campaigns for Missouri's GOP U.S. Senate nomination. During a live interview on 939 the Eagle's "Wake Up Columbia," Congressman Long praised Governor Parson for working to try to form the American Governors' Border Strike Force. Congressman Long also blasts what he calls "the swamp" in Missouri", including some commodity groups. He says "the swamp" is uniting around U.S. Rep.
