Columbia’s city council has unanimously voted to place the roll cart issue on the August ballot. Under the city charter, the council had to take action Monday night on the successful initiative petition to repeal the city’s prohibition on the use of residential roll carts. The issue will appear on Columbia’s citywide ballot on August 2. Fifth Ward councilman Matt Pitzer joined us live on "Wake Up Columbia":

Boone County clerk Brianna Lennon is projecting a 15 percent voter turnout for Tuesday's election. Her office is open for absentee voting today, and it will be open tomorrow (Saturday) from 9 am to 1 pm for absentee voting as well. Columbia voters will be electing a new mayor, two Columbia school board seats are up for grabs and CPS voters will be casting ballots on an $80-million bond issue.
