In working with a number of couples that ultimately want to make one another happy, I have found a noticeable behavior that actually is quite negative, and something that erodes trust in the long run. This is a concept of not wanting to disappoint one's partner, and instead of telling the honest truth, they would rather tell a white lie to avoid disappointing them. In today's episode let's talk about the importance of actually facilitating disappointment instead of trying to sugarcoat things with a white lie.

Chivalry is a very old concept of how specifically men behave with women. In today's modern time, some of these old teachings have become obsolete or negative. However, there are many things from the past that actually makes sense and can be tailored to every individual. In today's episode, I want to challenge the man in the audience to really think about what is their authentic version of chivalry, what does chivalry mean to them and how can they start embodied the kind of man they really want to be through the behaviors and mindset of chivalry.

Even if you and your partner speak the same language as your first language, it doesn't always mean that you actually are understanding one another. In today's episode, I want to talk more about how to be aware that communication is not always as simple as saying, the exact same words. But more about understanding that each other can have a different meaning from the exact same words. Instead of being frustrated by this fact, let's try making this a little bit more lighthearted and create a game.

Let's talk about what some people might consider is incompatibility in a relationship. Or is this just the norm of being two different people? I have heard many people come into therapy with me that feel that they are in compatible with their partner and they're trying to find someway to rectify this. However, more often than not this is simply a moment that they are experiencing what it is to live with a different person.

Today we are going to talk about part 1 of a two-part series in regards to the topic of using past issues as ammo within arguments. I think every couple can understand that past pain definitely can linger if not addressed. Let's talk about how to begin this process, so that arguments become more focused on what is happening right now and not so much about what has happened in all the time you have been together as a couple.

I believe it's common knowledge that we know our partner cannot be all things at all times to us. However, I still see in my practice that we have a lot of unrealistic expectations for our relationship. Today let's talk a little bit about what makes an unrealistic expectation and how to come to a compromise so they both of you can be in a relationship that feels happy and respectful of your differences.

Today we're gonna talk about the importance of having a no way mindset when it comes to working on couples issues. Defining, the no way out mindset means to be ready to deal with the situation that you are in because you cannot leave. I want to give some examples of people I have seen in practice as well as throughout social media, but personify these issues of easily, leaving and giving up on the commitment that it takes to be in a relationship with another person.

Every relationship does this dance. This dance goes beyond sexuality, and really is about the flow of roles and teamwork. Because this topic is vast and very personalized, I am only going to be talking about the most general points that I think everyone should start to assess and hopefully personalize in their own relationships. You will need, a strong awareness in yourself and what truly feels comfortable, happy and natural for you. Please keep in mind that this is a topic laced in a lot of cultural stigma so if you feel uncomfortable by discussing femininity and masculinity, this may not be the episode for you. For those willing to open their minds and our curious, welcome!
