This week on Waking Up with Flem, Ryan and Marlee are talking about all the little things that can turn a perfectly good meal out into an experience that drives you absolutely CRAZY. 😂
Why are some restaurants so dark that you need your phone flashlight just to read the menu? And once you finally figure out what you're ordering, why is the music so loud that you can't even hear the person sitting across from you?
We're getting into all of our biggest restaurant pet peeves—getting seated and then completely forgotten about, QR-code-only menus, automatic gratuity followed by ANOTHER tip screen, and the dreaded moment when everyone's food hits the table...except yours.
And can someone please explain why the appetizer we've been waiting on suddenly arrives at the exact same time as dinner?!
We're also talking about the things other customers do that make us question humanity: kids running around while their parents completely ignore them, full-volume FaceTime conversations at the table next to you, and groups waiting for a table who decide the perfect place to stand is approximately six inches from YOUR table.
Then we take it to the drive-thru for one of life's greatest mysteries:
"Can you pull forward, please?"
...THERE'S NOBODY BEHIND ME! 😂
Grab your coffee—or your $4 fountain drink—and join us for another hilarious episode of Waking Up with Flem!
🎙️ Listener Question: What's your #1 restaurant pet peeve? And which one of ours bothers you the most?
Summer is officially over, the backpacks are packed, alarms are set, and somehow we're supposed to get everyone out the door on time again. WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL! 😂
This week on Waking Up with Flem, Ryan and Marlee are talking all things back-to-school—from the chaos of school supplies and morning routines to packed lunches, pickup lines, forgotten homework, sports schedules, and those wonderful last-minute announcements of, "Oh yeah... I need this for TOMORROW!"
We also take a trip back to our own school days and compare what school was like when we were kids versus what kids deal with today. Could teenage Ryan and Marlee survive school in 2026? We're not entirely sure.
Plus, we hand out some Flem Family Back-to-School Awards, and make a few predictions about how this school year is going to go.
And somewhere between the laughs and chaos, we get a little sentimental about just how quickly these school years are flying by.
☕ Grab your coffee, get the kids out the door, and join us for another episode of Waking Up with Flem!
Listener Question: What's the craziest thing your kid has ever told you they needed for school... the NIGHT BEFORE?! 😂
What would you do if you woke up tomorrow as a Powerball jackpot winner?
This week on Waking Up with Flem, Ryan and Marlee let their imaginations run wild as they dream about what life would look like with hundreds of millions of dollars in the bank. Would we buy our dream home? Build the ultimate family compound? Fill a farm with animals? Travel the world? Or finally splurge on those dream cars we've always talked about?
From realistic plans to over-the-top wish lists, we dive into the fun (and sometimes hilarious) decisions we'd have to make if money was no object. Along the way, we talk about what we'd do for our family, the experiences we'd create, and whether winning the lottery would really change who we are.
☕ In this episode:
As you're listening, think about your own jackpot plan—and let us know in the comments: What's the very first thing you'd buy if you won the Powerball?

This week on Waking Up with Flem, Ryan and Marlee are back with another week of family stories, laughs, and questionable life choices!
The big topic this week is the 7 Brew Grand Opening and the absolutely insane line for Swag Day on Saturday. Was the free merch worth the wait? Ryan breaks down the experience and the excitement surrounding the newest coffee spot in town.
Marlee also shares her latest adventure with a sleep study using nothing more than an app, leading to plenty of questions (and maybe a few answers) about how well she actually sleeps.
The Fleming family officially kicked off Vacation Bible School (VBS) on Sunday, and the kids are already diving into another fun week of summer activities.
Ryan introduces everyone to one of the weirdest game shows he's ever discovered—Silent Library. If you've never seen it, you're in for a laugh as the family reacts to the bizarre challenges and ridiculous moments.
And finally, the family has a new problem... Maizee has apparently become the official 7 Brew investigator. Thanks to location tracking, she somehow knows every single time Ryan and Marlee sneak off for a coffee run without inviting her. The evidence doesn't lie, and neither does her disappointment!
Grab your favorite drink (preferably from 7 Brew... if Maizee approves), and join Ryan and Marlee for another episode filled with family fun, caffeine, laughs, and the everyday adventures of the Fleming family on Waking Up with Flem.
This week on Waking Up with Flem, we're back from an unforgettable family vacation to Amelia Island—and let's just say... it was one not to Forget!
We recap the road trip while Ryan and Marlee binged episodes of Theo Von's podcast, family putt-putt battles, introducing the kids to golf with Payne, and the unforgettable moment Maizee decided Ryan's golf club was better suited for flying lessons than golfing.
Of course, no Fleming vacation would be complete without a little chaos. Ryan's beach tent turned into its own adventure (or disaster, depending on who you ask), proving once again that simple instructions are merely suggestions.
Back home, the weekend chaos continued when Mimi and Tom somehow managed to get themselves locked inside their own storage unit! It turned into one of those stories that's hilarious now... but probably wasn't in the moment. Leave it to our family to keep the adventures going even after vacation ends!
We also take a moment to say goodbye to a very special member of the family—RIP Yurtle the Turtle. He may have been small, but he definitely left a big impression on the Fleming household.
And since America is celebrating its 250th Birthday, we're raising an American Dew to 250 years of freedom, family, fireworks, and making memories that will be talked about for years to come.
So grab your favorite drink (preferably an American Dew), sit back, and wake up with the Flem's for another episode full of laughs, stories, and the beautiful chaos of family life.
This week on Waking Up with Flem, Ryan and Marlee catch up on all the summer adventures happening around the Fleming household!
Maizee headed off to soccer camp at TFS, sharpening her skills and making memories on the field, while Marlee spent part of her week completing CPR training and adding another valuable skill to her toolkit. Meanwhile, Declan enjoyed a mini vacation to Mimi and Tom's, getting spoiled and having a blast away from home.
The Flemings also found themselves deep in binge-watch mode, diving into Netflix's A Good Girl's Guide to Murder along with a few movie nights. Marlee shares her frustration with how the series compares to the book, while Ryan tries to defend the adaptation.
The family celebrated Father's Day with plenty of fun, and Ryan surprised the kids with a trip to Activate, the interactive game experience that had everyone running, climbing, and competing their way through high-energy challenges.
Plus, Ryan and Marlee give an early birthday shout-out to Chelsey Poole, celebrating another trip around the sun and wishing her an amazing birthday week!
To wrap things up, Ryan and Marlee talk about their upcoming beach vacation, what they're most excited about, what they're packing, and whether they'll actually be able to relax once they get there.
Grab your coffee and join the conversation as the Flem's share another week of family life, laughs, summer adventures, and everything in between on Waking Up with Flem.
This week on Waking Up with Flem, Ryan and Marlee survived a rare kid-free week—and it may not have gone exactly as planned.
With Maizee and Declan away at church camp, we thought we'd have plenty of time for date nights, pickleball, and crossing things off the to-do list. Instead, we enjoyed a couple of great dinners together, somehow never made it to the pickleball court, and soaked in the unusual quiet around the house.
But it wasn't completely quiet—because the newest Fleming family member was settling into his new home. Yurtle the Turtle is now officially a Fleming after Ryan spent part of the week building him a custom backyard habitat. Yurtle has traded camp life for the good life and is already making himself right at home.
Declan returned from camp on Friday with plenty of stories and memories. His favorite part of the entire week? The food. Forget the activities, games, and adventures—the camp menu earned top billing. We hear all about his experience and why he can't wait to go back.
Meanwhile, Marlee took full advantage of the peaceful week by relaxing in her brand-new dipping pool before Maizee returned home from camp on Saturday. Between the pool, the date nights, and the temporary calm, it was a nice reset before the whole family was back under one roof.
Join us as we talk church camp adventures, backyard turtle construction projects, kid-free week expectations versus reality, and the little moments that made this week memorable.
☕ Grab your coffee and wake up with us for another episode filled with family stories, laughs, and life with the Flemings.
This week on Waking Up with Flem, the house is about to get a whole lot quieter as Maizee and Declan head off for church camp! We talk about all the excitement, nerves, and chaos that come with sending the kids away for a week of adventure.
We also introduce the newest member of the Fleming family—Yurtle the Turtle, Maizee's new pet and already a household celebrity.
The conversation takes a turn into the world of K-pop as we discuss the kids' latest obsession, favorite groups, and how somehow our house soundtrack has completely changed overnight.
Plus, Ryan unveils his new alter ego, Vlan, and explains the story behind the name, while we brainstorm what a rare kid-free week might actually look like. Will it be productive? Relaxing? A chance to catch up on life? Or just a week of wondering what the kids are doing at camp?
Join us for laughs, family stories, and the usual Fleming family randomness as we wake up together and navigate another week of life.
