What is worship? Why do we sing in church? Does the style of music matter to God? Why are songs sung typically at the beginning of the church service? These may be just a few of the questions people have regarding worship music. Ultimately, we want to know what God has to say about it. What does His Word teach us about worship?

We’re starting a new series at church called, “Why do you do that?!” We’ll take a look at why we do some of the things we do in church. Things like Worship music, Baptism, Communion, and Tithing. We’ll look for answers as to why we do these things, how we should do them according to God’s Word, and how those things may be practiced currently while in quarantine. Hint: all the answers are almost identical. We look forward to what God will show us these next few weeks!

On Easter Sunday, we take a look at thee greatest event in human history. Jesus rises from the dead, only to secure our salvation and names in the Lamb’s book of life. Do you know Him? Do you have a relationship with Him? Now is the time. He came for you. He died for you. He rose again on the third day for you. Jesus loves you! He is ALIVE!

On this Good Friday, we take an extensive look at the final hours of the life of Jesus. From His troubled prayer in the garden, to his arrest, trials, conviction, and eventual crucifixion, Jesus willingly laid down His life so that we could be free. This is why we refer to this Friday as ‘good’. Jesus took on your sins and nailed them to the cross. Will you give Him your life today?

Palm Sunday is a day to remember and celebrate Jesus’ triumphal entry. As he rode in on a donkey, fulfilling yet another prophecy, the people shouted “Hosanna in the highest!” However, their praise was misunderstood as to what Jesus was riding in to Jerusalem to do. He was there not to rule politically, but rather to humbly and sacrificially lay His life down for our sins.

Multiple times during His ministry, Jesus spoke of His death and resurrection. He also pointed out how all of Scripture points to Himself. So to fully understand why He had to suffer and die, we need to know why He came. In part 1 of our Easter series, we look at how the Old Testament speaks to Jesus as our King of Kings and why He temporarily vacated His heavenly throne for our salvation.

Two more amazing miracles performed by Jesus. First, due to the persistent faith of the Syrophonecian Woman, her daughter was set free from her demon. Second, Jesus heals a deaf and mute man. Three things we gain from our study: 1. God always hears our cries for help. 2. God will answer our prayers. 3. God will always provide for us. It may not be want we want, but it will always be what we need.

As the world goes on lock down due to COVID-19, we are all forced to adapt and change our routine. For today’s church, that means lots of changes in the way we ‘do church’. Most, if not all are now live-streaming Sunday service and engaging in community online. So what is our responsibility in all this as the Church. The writer of Hebrews provides us a solid foundation from the Word of God in what our responsibilities are, even as we are quarantined.

The Pharisee’s once again try to entrap Jesus regarding their traditions. Jesus responds by bringing them back to the word of God. It’s always valuable for us in the church to evaluate all that we do against the commands of God. We might be surprised that what we thought has been religious practice, is in actuality just man-made tradition. It doesn’t necessarily mean those things are right or wrong. We just need to check our heart and what God wants to accomplish through us in all that we do.

After feeding the 5,000, Jesus spends some time in prayer as he sent His disciples in the boat to the other side of the sea. Although we don’t see it at times, there is always a plan for what we go through in life. We need to learn to press in to Jesus through the reading of His word and prayer, so that when the storms of life hit us, we can set our eyes on Him. He is always with us.
