Who should get the blame?
Is it you, your parents or the gods?
Today, On #Deararn, the Walk with Me series with Anne Ajadi, we discover the power, or not, of getting entangled in the blame game.
We will explore the possibilities that abound if we entertain other perspectives.
The treasure is in the dirt
Gold assumes its purity in the fire
Suffering is an incubator for greatness
The message is in the mess.
Purpose is hiding in your story.
God is unveiling you and His purpose for your life
Forgiveness is a willful decision to release the feeling of anger, bitterness, resentment, overtly or covertly wishing you could pay back in the same coin.
It is being deliberate about excusing the frailties or shortcomings of others. It is understanding that all things being equal, no one in their right spirit and mind would set out to hurt another. Remember we all have the breath of God inside us. We all embody God. No one who has God ruling their hearts would cause willfully cause his brother pain. It is human to err and for as long as we live in this earth suit, we will be offended and we too will wrong others.
What should we then do, seeing that the pain is deep, and the consequences are dire. There is grace available. The blood of Jesus ensured it.
Convince yourself that your brother made a mistake by offending you. Let it go. You need to be free. Negative emotions have a way of eating up whoever gives them room
Suppose they are not sorry? What is that to you? Forgive you must, you you’re your sanity. I have met a number of folk bent over by sickness and pain. When we trace it, we find unforgiveness at the base. There is however a more dangerous twist to the matter of unforgiveness. It may be easier for you to forgive them but near impossible for you to grant the same grace to yourself. It is the reason we blame ourselves and refuse to come out of the dark alley such decisions send us. Refusing to forgive ourselves and let go of the past is building a nice abode for depression and other mental health issues.
Go home, fix whatever needs to be fixed and then, you will be ready for the world. Any victory outside the home is empty. What is the use of achieving incredible feats that mean nothing to the people you care deeply about? Picture winning so many trophies, getting applauded by the whole world and returning home, and there is no one to receive you. Tragedy! How will it feel when there is no one to laugh over nothing with you? “It is difficult to get them to appreciate me at home,” you say; my answer, keep at it, and one day you will find yourself on the other side, and you will not be alone.
A mentor of mine says, “God gave us a family to prepare us for ministry”. If this is true, why do we head straight for the ministry without taking classes in the family? Finally, I encourage you to keep moving, keep learning and keep changing for Christ. No one who yields to Christ ever returns defeated. We shall all finish strong in the name of Jesus.
I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you. 6 This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. 2 Timothy 1:5-6
“Listen, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD alone. 5 And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. 6 And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. 7 Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. 8 Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. 9 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. Dueteronomy 6:4-9
Knock knock! Who's there?
Jesus is at the door. Do you know Him? Do you recognize
Him? How would you receive Him? What do you think He would say to you?
I have an idea. He is about to introduce Himself to you in the way you have not known Him. Things are about to change in your life. Something new is about to happen? Are you ready?
