These are some of the worst moments of Jacob’s life, calling into question how it is that Yahweh could stomach partnering with such flawed individuals. Yet despite the colossal failures of the seed of Abraham, Yahweh’s faithfulness to raise up one born of a woman to crush the head of the serpent is invincible, and this is the best of God that we ache for when the complete disaster of partial obedience exposes us to the worst of people.
