Jesus is clearly saying here that miracles are a sign that point to God. Yes they are powerful sign, even a privileged sign but also an accountable sign.

Today’s passage is all about the transfiguration of Jesus. In the previous couple of verses Jesus have made some mighty claims about his heavenly father and the holy angels. The disciples had witnessed some incredible miracles but the divine providence of Jesus son of the carpenter was yet to be fully substantiated in the minds of many.

When we chase fleshly pursuits they may not in and of themselves be wrong or sinful but they may lead to a behavioural pattern which takes you away from God, Unless you take God with you to guard your heart.
