We've been with Moses up Mount Sinai for the past few days as Moses has been receiving from God extensive and very specific instructions regarding a type of worship God wanted the former Hebrew slaves to engage with Holy, Almighty God. It was to be entirely different from Egyptian idol worship and it would form the basis of the worship the Jewish people would offer God for centuries to come. As Moses had taken careful note of all the details God had given to him, I'm sure he had many questions, but one near the top of the list was WHO? WHO would have the ability required to take Moses' descriptions of what he had heard from God and then make detailed sketches, find the appropriate raw materials, and finally carefully craft all these things? Once again Moses didn't have long to wait for the answer.

Good morning my "Walking with Jesus" friends, I wonder how you dressed yourself for today? Do you have a variety of clothes you wear depending on what you have on your agenda for that day? Do you have work clothes or school clothes or play outside clothes or funeral clothes or wedding clothes or very important event clothes? Many jobs provide or require uniforms for working, don't they? Some schools require uniforms for students or teachers. I wonder what conclusions you draw from the clothes a person is wearing? We've been up with Moses on Mount Sinai as he meets with God. 1 million former Hebrew slaves are camped at the base of the mountain. For the most part I think it's safe to say they had only one type of clothes... hard work clothes!

I grew up with a Dad who was a master builder. His father, my grandfather, was a carpenter who built houses, so my father grew up with a love for construction. He achieved an architectural engineering degree and my Dad especially loved the years God allowed him to design and build church buildings in one of the poorest countries in the world. I so much enjoyed watching a drawing on paper come to life as my father led a team of people as they made the drawing become a useable church building. Perhaps that's why I'm fascinated with the building God designed and explained to Moses, instructing him to lead the people in constructing a special place where God could meet with those who would be leaders of His people.

In many parts of the world today is a very big financial day. Some people call today "Black Friday" because so much purchasing is done, world wide, both in person and via the internet, that some businesses actually move into profitability for the whole year, by the end of this weekend! For many people this long weekend is about rethinking priorities. Yesterday was for many people a day of gathering with friends and family for "Giving Thanks". Today is a day of purchasing for many people. Then comes the weekend and the question many will face... where does God fit in all this busy activity? We're spending several days with Moses up Mount Sinai in Exodus 25 for the very same reason: Priorities realignment.

Today is a special day in America! It's Thanksgiving Day. You perhaps know the story which has been passed down to us, generation after generation. They say the first settlers who had come from Europe to America, gathered at the time of the first harvest, with those who they had found already lived in America, often called "Native Americans". As the harvest was brought in from the fields, these two very different groups of people joined together in a harvest meal and expressed thanks to God for His provision and protection. I wonder what your' Thanksgiving Day' will be today and how much of your day will be focused on thanking God for ALL He has done for your very existence this year? How will you thank God for all He has done to provide and nurture the relationship He offers you in Jesus Christ?

You probably have important papers, maybe even legal documents and other valuables that you keep in a safe place, right? So may I ask, what if you received something tangible and very special from God, where would you keep it safe from anything that could harm it?  Yesterday you and I were up on Mount Sinai with Moses, in a thick fog bank, meeting with God! This was not Moses' first time on Sinai with God, in fact it was his sixth! But this would be his longest stay thus far, lasting 40 days and 40 nights. Why so long?

On this day 58 years ago, our world awoke to shocking news. President John F Kennedy, the  President of the United States at that time, had been shot the day before and declared dead that afternoon. It was the first dramatic shooting in America during that decade which later saw Robert F Kennedy shot and Martin Luther King also assassinated. The sixties were turbulent around the world and of course was the decade of the Vietnam War. I wonder how that decade looks to you now that it is more than 50 years removed from our present day? Time and stepping away from tumultuous situations can give us a very different perspective from being in the middle of the fray, can't it? That's exactly what Moses was experiencing. I left you yesterday with Moses deep in a thick fog cloud with God.

I wonder if you like to get away from the noise and rush of life for an extended period of solitude and quiet? If so, where do you go and how long do you stay there? Also... what do you do in that quiet place, and what have you found is the short and long term benefit for such times of quiet rest and reflection? Yesterday I left you sitting with Moses and Joshua up Mount Sinai. They had climbed up there at God's invitation, getting away from the noise and ruckus of 1 million people camped at the base of the mountain. For six days Moses and Joshua had just sat inside a fog bank on this mountain waiting... waiting for God to say or do something.

I wonder if you've ever been invited to come and spend an extended period of time with someone you greatly admire? If the appointed rendezvous place was some distance from you perhaps as you traveled, you contemplated the great privilege, maybe even the honor of this invitation. What would you do if God invited you to come and meet with HIM?

Good morning my "Walking with Jesus" friends, When you hear the word Promises... what comes to your mind? When you heard the word Vows... what do you think of?

And what about when you hear the word Covenant... how is a Covenant different from promises or vows? Are you living your life bound by any promises or vows that you've made? Do you regret any of them?
