The sermon examines Isaiah's oracles against Egypt, Babylon, and Edom to demonstrate God's sovereign control over history and nations. It highlights how Judah was tempted to seek political alliances with Egypt for protection against Assyria, only to find that God would bring judgment upon Egypt instead. The preacher explains that while past prophecies regarding Egypt's civil war and famine were fulfilled, future promises of restoration remain unfulfilled, pointing to God's ongoing plan for all nations. By analyzing the complex relationship between Babylon and Judah, the text warns against placing trust in human power or political maneuvering. The Apostle John urges us to abide in the truth about Christ in a world that is passing and full of spiritual danger, with many "antichrists" and false teachers denying who Jesus really is. To abide in Christ is to remain in the truth about Him, resist lies that distort His person and work, and continue in fellowship with the Father and the Son so that we may have confidence at His coming. We must test all teaching by Scripture, cling to the biblical Christ, and live in daily dependence on Him.

The Elect, all those born again, daily experience the unspeakable vileness of their old human nature, still actively assaulting their Precious Savior, with their indwelling sins, even as The Holy Spirit Cleanses them. All of Scriptures, and All the Elect, testify this is their Beatitude experience, where by Grace Alone, God does indeed view such broken hearted and contrite spirited sinners, whose old nature is daily assaulting Him; yet as His SAINTS ! Ps. 51:17
