In this Scripture God calls His people to stand in the ways, ask for the old paths, and walk in the good way where there is rest for the soul. When Christians abandon the tried and proven ways of worship, preaching, music, reverence, and separation from the world, they seldom return, and their children are carried even farther away from the truth. True worship must be acceptable to God, rooted in spirit and truth, and separated from the sensual, worldly, and profane influences that appeal to the flesh rather than honor the Lord. Therefore, we must consider the true cost of leaving the old paths, hold fast to what has been delivered to us, and preserve for the next generation a reverent, holy, Bible-centered way that pleases God.
