Join Jacob this week for a journey into chapter 2 of 2 Timothy and the profound things it reveals on the nature of a "war vessel". In this episode Jacob starts off by exploring the concept of being enlisted by Christ and the mindsets we are to have as soldier in Christ.

In 2 Timothy chapter 2 Paul exhorts Timothy to be "a good soldier of Jesus Christ" and then goes on to explain the conduct of a soldier engaged in warfare. That soldier is set-apart for battle and is to have no other focuses other than to serve the one who enlisted him. As Christians this should be our mindset on serving Jesus on the battlefield of our lives. Our all for His glory!

This week join Jacob as he begins to introduce a new series on diving deeper into the concept of being a "war vessel" for Christ. We are "chosen vessels" made to bear the name of Jesus to all people. Saul was called by the Lord to, "bear My name before the Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel" (Acts 9:15) and likewise we all are chosen to "bear" the insignia of Jesus on our hearts, minds, and souls to the people He has purposed for us to come in contact with. This new series is going to look closely at the honor of being called a vessel for Christ and the gift of service we are given to proclaim the name of Jesus Christ.

Join Jacob this week as he 'peers' into a fascinating study on Genesis 19 and the interesting story of Lot's wife and looking back at the place she was fleeing from. According to the Hebrew language Lot's wife looked back at her home city (of terrible sin) with regard and care. She intently looked at Sodom with longing and because of her disobedience became a pillar of salt. This story has a potent message for us in how our hearts can deceive us in our desire to look back upon that which we are supposed to be fleeing from spiritually.

Hello everyone! This episode is a bonus message that I am uploading for my church but also for you all as well. The reason for this interesting upload is because I came down with some COVIDish symptoms but I was also designated to preach this Sunday. So to come up with a compromise I thought I could record it from home and still be able to deliver my message Sunday morning just in podcast format. Jesus came up with a solution to a dilemma!

This particular passage of Romans 8 was a delight to study and is so truly powerful for us as believers to claim! Paul lays out several questions to persuade his readers of the unimaginable relationship they have in the love of Christ. And he himself is persuaded of Christ's love and provides an amazing proof statement to answer his former questions. Hope this message is an encouragement and strengthening to your walk in Christ!

Join Jacob this week as he picks up after last weeks break and starts with a fresh and "newness" of mind for this episode. What if each of us lived moment by moment like each second was something new given by God for us to live in? The answer and truth to that question is that each moment is a new thing given to us by Jesus. The real decision in that reality is how we choose to invest our heart, soul, and might. Do we ultimately use our moments to fully be aware and present in all God is doing? Or do we use our seconds to hash life out in our own strength and seek what we want to do and become lost in the present by hyper-focusing on the past and future?

Ben and Jacob carry on the discussion from last week on Matthew 14:22-33 and just delight in the depth and application of this particular Scripture to the daily life of a Christian. How has Jesus called you to walk on the stormy waves of this life and come to Him? May we all be at least like Peter and be willing get out of the boat and start making footprints on the waves towards our "un-sinking" and unsinkable Lord Jesus. Let us recognize like Peter that the safest place isn't in the boat getting ready to sink but on the white-capped waves next to Christ--our sure hope of rest!

In part 4 of the "Come to Me" series Jacob and Ben discuss the ways it seems Jesus sought rest with the Father and then how He sourced His life from that heart of rest. In Matthew 14 Jesus spends much of His time preaching to 5,000 people and then made a set-apart time alone on a mountain to pray all night to the Father. After that time of solitary communion with the Father Jesus returns to His disciples on the sea with an incredible account of His power at work!

This week join Ben and Jacob again as they head deeper into the territory of rest in Christ. The discussion of this week ranges from how God "places" us into rest just as Adam in the Garden of Eden or the Israelites in the Promised Land to the prayer of Christ that we would be one with Him just as He is with the Father. All in all it falls to one place--Jesus is the ultimate source of our rest! Yet, there is so much depth to how Jesus desires for us to come into that rest with Him and it is a delight to ponder!

Join Jacob and Ben this week as they continue the exciting discussion on finding rest in Christ!

Through this episode Ben and Jacob talk about the seemingly unrestful week (or what could have been an unrestful week without Jesus) they had over the past several days but how the Lord used that to bring about a greater depth of rest and trust in each of their lives. You will notice particularly in this episode that Jacob disappears for a minute to take an important phone call from the vet clinic (with some good news from day of fighting for rest in the wrestling) while Ben smoothly carries on the discussion solo!

The Lord is very good to bring rest and answer the prayers of those who desire His peace which transcends understanding. This week through various means Jesus brought rest into Ben and Jacob's lives which uniquely stands as a testimony in this episode to His faithfulness! Praise the Lord!
