It's been a bit! We're back to talk about where we've been, how we've been feeling, and why things are getting so much more difficult for people as Covid restrictions. This episode we dive deep into trauma and the science behind why people feel worse after the event. Some personal anecdotes, and a lot of deflection with humor. Also, as always some goofs and gaffes. It's WarPorn!
Pat wants you to stop saying 'happy' memorial day, in this very special Monday episode of the WarPorn podcast. We've had a week off because of the big move, and our energy is electric, we're totally not being mean to each other. We talk about how memorial day has become commercialized, about ego, and about the shenanigans happening over in Washington. It's an episode of goofs, gaffes, and a lot of gripes.
Welcome to Season 2! Which is largely the same as season 1, only better. More laughs, more drama, and even deeper discussions.
In this episode, we talked about Mental Health Diagnosis. Our history with them, the pros and cons of getting one. ADHD, Autism, ODD, PTSD, we cover it all. Come along with us as we discuss dealing with Childhood diagnosis, as well as later in life, as we dig into our shared experience and personal stories.
It's a new season, a new us, and a new.... uh.... something, here on the WarPorn podcast
We watched Mortal Kombat this week! And we had next to nothing to say about it, so we just talked about everything else instead!
Come on by for an episode fill to bursting with topics OTHER than Mortal Kombat. We've got some mental health, we've got Spider-man, Gene is makes fun of Pat's bandanna and Pat has a crisis of faith.
It's an opps all goofs episode, this week on the WarPorn Podcast
On a very special Warporn Podcast, Gene brings us a solo episode detailing two of the most pivotal moments in his adult life and the impact they had on him.
"The Two Screams" is the story of inter-generational trauma, alcoholism, heavy metal and self-empowerment. Originally intended to be the opening chapter of a memoir he never quite got around to writing (yet), the story basically serves as his own superhero origin narrative.
We will be back next week to overanalyze whatever Marvel property catches our eye in the next few days but for now enjoy this brief one-shot!
The show may not be finished, but it's so relevant to everything happening in the world, and the themes of this show, that we decided to cover it early.
Join us as we break down the first 5 episodes, what they have to say about being a veteran, about trauma, and how those problems can be further exacerbated by racism. As well as how the show is so relevant to the news we see every day in America.
One of our most in-depth discussions yet, with a lot of goofs and gaffes along the way, here on the WarPorn Podcast
It only took 28 episodes, but we finally decided to cover a war movie. Saving Private Ryan was trending over the weekend, so we thought we'd look back on this cinematic legacy.
Come join us for a discussion where Pat deflects with humor while Gene gets progressively sleepier! One of our most comedic episodes, because what better way to process all these war feelings than a juvenile fart joke.
At some point, we get into some great discussions about the matter at hand.
A special episode this week with just me, Patrick, the person who usually writes these descriptions in the third person.
I gave Gene the week off because he's a hard-working lad, and he deserves it. So please enjoy a solo episode about coming home from Afghanistan, and how that experience feels similar to today, as we see the end of the tunnel with Covid.
Not a terribly long episode, but I hope it'll hold you over till next week when we tackle our first actual war film.
It's gonna be a real goof.
This week we put the superheroes aside and watched Kong Skull Island, a movie about the cast of marvel fighting King Kong. What does it have to say about war? Quite a lot, surprisingly.
But you'll have to wait for that, because Gene and Pat are off on several different tangents, and got banned from TikTok live for a whole day for having the, frankly, necessary conversation about whether King Kong would have a massive dong.
Come join us for a lot of goofs and gaffes, and then a serious conversation about Vietnam, coming home from war, violence, and trauma.
I (Pat) never thought we'd see the day, after years of campaigning (often too aggressively) with the hashtag #releasethesnydercut the internet finally has its day. And it's going to take most of the day because this bad boy's four hours long.
Is it any good? I guess you'll have to listen in to find out. In a rare turn, when our Podcast is shorter than the film we are discussing.
Will Gene have good things to say? Or this another Iron Giant episode? Will Pat go off on a ridiculous tangent about what Superman SHOULD be? Yeah. He will definitely do that.
Join us, and enjoy all the goofs and gaffes as we break down this movie turned internet meme turned back into a movie.
