Here is a simply trick I developed that helps me quickly get an approximate zero prior to actually zeroing. This step is a very fast way to get on paper which can save time and a lot of frustration. I use this technique personally, and when I'm helping my students zero their rifles or AR pistols. I am shooting an AR pistol in the video and out of habit accidentally said 'rifle' at the beginning.

The pistol shown has an Anderson lower with a Midwest rail chambered in a 5.56 and rocking a Gemtech silencer. It is outfitted with a Blue Force Gear Vickers sling, an Inforce flashlight, and an Aimpoint T1.

In this day and age, I believe a young boy could grow up and go their entire life without getting a good idea of what it really means to be a man. Some were blessed enough to have good fathers who understood what it meant to be a man and passed on this knowledge to their sons. Increasingly more so, this is a rarity, as 1/3 of all kids now grow up in a home without their biological fathers. The statistics regarding crime rates associated with those growing up in fatherless homes is startling. I wonder how much crime would simply disappear if every home had a good father figure in it raising children well. How many gangs would simply dry up and disappear? I think cops would find themselves refreshingly bored. I know this is all wishful thinking, but my point is this: fathers need to step up. Think of the impact if you and I came alive as fathers? Your children will grow up and affect the lives of countless others and their children will go on and do the same. This ripple affect - this opportunity of compounding influence - has got to overwhelmingly dwarf whatever the majority of us may hope to accomplish at our jobs. Love your kids men. Teach them to be strong, dedicated, focused, gentle, fierce, loyal - teach them to be men.

It is usually not the physical injuries that debilitate our war veterans - it is the psychological injuries. Do you have friends you would like to help and do not know how? Most of our veterans do not need handouts - they need community. They need other veterans who know the struggle and can walk that line between compassion and a kick in the pants.

Everything rises and falls on leadership. Whether we are talking about an NFL team, a massive corporation like Coca Cola, a military unit, or even a country, leadership can make or break any of these. The good news is, all leadership is based on the same principles and general wisdom. The bad news is, good leadership is difficult to find, and good leaders are few and far between. Though the recipe for good leadership is well known, the ability for folks to be able to rise to the challenge is quite a different story.

In this video, Special Operations veterans Kyle Lamb and John Lovell discuss lessons in leadership. John asks Kyle questions about his book ‘Leadership in the Shadows’ and other questions relating to the essence of leadership, how to motivate people, leadership styles, how military experience can translate into the civilian world, and more.

SGM (r) Kyle Lamb spent 21 years in the military with over 19 of those years in Special Operations and Special Forces, and over 15 of those years in Delta Force. Kyle Lamb fought in the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT), deploying numerous times to fight in Afghanistan (OEF) and Iraq (OIF), and many other conflicts to include fighting in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993. The book and movie Black Hawk Down would be based on the events that transpired in the streets of Somalia with Army Rangers, the Army’s 10th mountain division, and Delta Force.

SGM (r) Kyle Lamb led soldiers throughout his long and distinguished career in military Special Operations, and he continues to lead through his company Viking Tactics (also known as V-Tac), and through a number of other mediums to include a TV Show called Viking Chronicles, a podcast from Crusader Acres, through numerous articles he writes for firearm channels, and through social media platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.

The Weakness of An Angry Fighter is in their inability to think clearly and to maintain charge of their emotional faculties. While rage and anger can be very useful in a fight, it can also ensure your defeat. Against the untrained person, anger can overwhelm and rob the adversary of their will to fight, but against a determined enemy with training, your furious rage can be a recipe for disaster. In a contest between skilled fighters, the one to lose their cool first is oftentimes the loser.

Our desire as good protectors is to be able to use rage while still being able to think and while being able to maintain our overall emotional cool. Be a fire breathing dragon on the inside, but let your demeanor be all business. Develop a switch that only you can throw so that you remain in charge of your emotions and mind. Members of the Military, cops, contractors, and responsible armed civilians need to understand how rage works and what the strengths and weaknesses are to their anger so that they might be able to win in whatever fight they may find themselves in. Police officers especially must be able to have sober judgment at all times so they can understand the legal applications from moment to moment in any given situation and to understand liability factors - and all this must be understood before, during, and after any violent encounter.

How can we ensure we can control our rage and harness its strength without being carried away into becoming thoughtless, dumb, animals? We must develop a high degree of emotional maturity which is reinforced by a strength of character and solid relationships. If we want to control our anger, these handholds are sometimes the only thing that can keep us grounded so we can calculate and use good judgment.

Hacksaw Ridge is the kind of movie that sets one's soul on fire. Once the end credits rolled, I couldn't think of anything else but living a better life for others. I wanted to sacrifice for the greater good. I wanted to be a better man - one of daring faith and courageous acts. Directed by Mel Gibson and starring Vince Vaughn and Andrew Garfield, this movie is a must-see.

The movie recounts the true story of a World War II medic named Desmond Doss. Doss would become the first conscientious objector to earn the Medal of Honor through his single-handed rescue of 75 people during the Battle of Okinawa. Doss (played by Andrew Garfield from the Amazing Spiderman), refused to carry a gun or take life because of his religious beliefs based on the Bible's command that 'thou shalt not kill'. Doss would be heavily persecuted by the soldiers beside him and by his leadership (one of which is played by Vince Vaughn).

How can Americans prevail against radical Islam? How can we win this on going war on terrorism? Without a knowledge of real history, we have to relearn the same lessons over and over again. We have been dealing with Islamic nations for a very long time (since the creation of the U.S), and the history of how Islamic nations have interacted with other nations goes back to the 7th century. It’s all there. The instruction book for the future is written in bold letters in the past.

After the establishment of American Independence and the close of the Revolutionary War, a new nation, broke, and deeply in debt turned to foreign trade to help steady the economy. The great difficulty came fast, as American trade ships were immediately attacked by pirates of the Barbary coast. Algiers, Tripoli, and Tunis all were out to capture ships to steal their goods, convert the ships themselves into their own fleets, and put the crew into slave labor. Then these radical Islamic pirates would demand astronomical ransoms to free the slaves and also they required regular financial tributes to refrain from further acts of piracy. The demands of these Barbary states was far too high for the United States to afford and so they were forced to match force with force. The first move taken after diplomacy failed, was the creation of a Navy. This was a slow and costly endeavor, but it was a price we could not afford to refrain from. The proud history of both the Navy and the Marine Corps (USMC) would begin there in the Mediterranean during the First Barbary War. There we suffered humiliating defeats, proud victories, unforeseeable setbacks, and avoidable blunders. Heroes would emerge during the course of this war, two of which were William Eaton and Stephen Decatur. These warrior poets were both brilliant, courageous, skilled, and they were men of action. Through the leadership and military daring of Stephen Decatur, the USS Philadelphia would be destroyed to keep it from enemy hands during a daring covert naval operation. Decatur would also engage heroically in naval battles and become an American war hero and legend. William Eaton would also show his daring in the battle of derne. Here Eaton would bring about a land victory with a handful of US marines and a foreign army they raised while marching 600 miles through the desert. This unprecedented victory would bring about the end of the war and gain respect for the United States in the eyes of foreign powers.
