In this episode, we get to speak wtih Dr. Danielle Shugard who is a mobile physical therapist who offers in-home physical therapy, physical therapy for equestrians, and telehealth services. She specializes in treating riders and understands the unique physical demands of horseback riding. Dr. Danielle started her own business as a sole provider and has built a strong network within the equestrian community. While there are other physical therapists who specialize in treating riders, Dr. Danielle believes there is still an underserved community in need of specialized care. She is passionate about helping her clients improve their movement and overall well-being. The conversation covers topics such as the balance between in-person and telehealth services, the importance of networking and mentorship, and the challenges and rewards of being an entrepreneur.

In this episode, we get the absolute pleasure of speaking with the founder of Athena Fight Wear, Charlie Stone Shoes, and fellow martial artist, Samantha Capello!

Sam is not new to the world of entrepreneurship with her business, Athena Fight Wear. Sam started her first business Charlie Stone Shoes out of necessity for a better dance shoe. She realized there was a need for better, beautiful and more comfortable and efficient shoe to dance in. From this she got to work and was able to make a very successful business out of it! Once this business was off the ground and able to be pretty much be self-sustaining, she found the need to begin her next business, Athena Fight Wear! This too was build out of necessity for Sam herself, but she knew that in each of these situations she was most likely not the only one dealing with the same issues. Women do not typically have uniforms specifically designed for their bodies in sports or martial arts. Typically we just have to figure out how to size ourselves off of the men's options and they call it "unisex." So Sam got to work in creating a clothing brand that better suited women in martial arts!

Through this conversation, Sam provides her story and details on how she was able to build her businesses successfully. We hope that her story, her advice, and her abilities give you the boost you need to know that you too, can create and build even stronger the business you want to build, or currently are running.

An Armagh native, Jane studied Law with French Law at University College Dublin, a Masters of Law at Cambridge University, and is now studying an Executive MBA with Quantic School of Business & Technology.

Before moving to New York in October 2013, and after the New York Bar, Jane worked in Brussels, Belgium, first at the European Commission, then at the law firm, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, qualifying as a Solicitor of England & Wales.

Jane is the Founder & CEO of Women with Ambition, which provides a space for Irish and Irish-American women working in New York to connect more deeply, form a meaningful network, and take some time to focus on intentional self-development.

Jane is also the Founder & Chairperson of Liberty Gaels Camogie Club. Established nearly 10 years ago, it was the first adult Camogie club in New York after an absence of over 20 years, and the club has since become four-time North American Senior Champions.

Jane was honored with the Irish Echo Community Champion Award 2022.

She lives in Hoboken with her husband, Michael, and puppy, Jim McGuinness, and is always looking for lady golfers to play with!
