We look at how God’s timing and forming of Israel seems to run counter to our idea of loving God, but the short-term pain and judgment of God for a wayward Israel is in fact a demonstration of God’s beautiful love.

What’s God up to when the world seems to be doing well in some respects, but messy and chaotic in many others? Such is the nation of Israel when the prophet Hosea is sent to proclaim God’s word to them. Steeped in a period of history that we are not familiar with, it seems that God asks his servant, Hosea, to do and say some pretty confounding things to God’s people. Through Hosea’s life and ministry, we see how God pursues God’s people with a love that is out-of-this-world.
